Hi I was wondering if anyone knows how early the chauffeur generally calls you to confirm time and date of pickup? Leaving early next week, but haven't gotten any call so far.

thank you

About 48 hours before departure seems to be the average.

Got a call to confirm the chauffeur today, 4 days out from departure.

And I guess that means they really did book it in without problem on my ticket (success via phone, showed not eligible online). :D

Not eligible ?

Does that mean it was an AA award ticket ? Or one of the cheap J fares that are usually ineligible ?

Nah, a ticket from before the eligibility change...

Hmm I have a VA award ticket booked back in May, for travel after 10 Aug, and it's showing up as "Not Eligible" on the website now. I suspect that's because the ticket got reissued at some point due to an involuntary schedule change (one of the flights now leaves 10 minutes earlier or something)?

Sorry if this question is repetitive. I booked hubby on EY J from SYD to LHR via AUH using AA miles - before EY changed policy that chauffeured cars would no longer be available for pax using miles redemption. Hubby will be travelling early January 2017. Today I went to his booking to see if I would be able to book cars for him from home to SYD airport, and from LHR airport to home. It showed that bookings were allowed. My question is, if I make the car bookings, will they stick? Or, will EY cancel them? It does not really matter a great deal as he can take trains from home to airports at either end - but it helps (and save time) if he gets the chauffeured cars. Thanks for any reply.

That advice on the web site may be misleading.

From what I have seen, the EY web site allows you to go through the booking process until completion. Then you get an emailed itinerary shortly afterwards advising that the booking is not eligible for the chauffer:

"Chauffeur service Unconfirmed for ........... - UNABLE TO CONFIRM CHAUFFEUR TICKET NOT ELIGIBLE .......... "

Admittedly, this was for a booking after they changed the rules (but it still showed as being eligible until after I had completed the process).

Please let us know if you have any success or not.

Thanks, DC3, for your reply.
Well, I went to Etihad website again and completed the booking process. Then I got an email confirmed chauffeur service booked. So, am not sure if the bookings will stay, or ? Could it be because the flight booking was done before the new policy / rules came into effect?

Myrna- I was in the exact same situation as you- booked an AA ticket on Etihad almost 11 months ago for my nephew but only booked the chauffeur last month after the policy change. Received confirmation almost immediately and ticket stated that the chauffeur was booked. My nephew flew out last Saturday and I was extremely nervous that there would not be a car waiting for him. However he messaged me last night and told me that the chauffeur was there waiting for him and there were no dramas. I had incorrectly told him that he should receive a text from the driver and so he was a bit worried when a message wasn't received. ( when beening picked up at the airport I have never been contacted by the driver only with home pick up going to the airport). So I think you will be fine.

At the same time of booking my nephew's chauffeur, I attempted to book a chauffeur for myself as I also had a ticket booked under the new policy. Even though the website said I was eligible I received the same message as DC3 - unconfirmed not eligible.

Thanks, gzmourg, for replying. Good to know that the chauffeur booking worked well for your nephew. I think Etihad allows booking for redemption made before the new policy. I will keep my fingers crossed that the car booking I made for hubby will be good as well. Otherwise he is not really worry either way as he can always take the trains.

Good to know that bookings made before the chauffeur eligibility changes are being honoured. Will be booking my chauffeur pick-up soon once I organise my hotel.
Is the chauffeur service for both departures and arrivals?

Yes, chauffeur cars are for both - to airport for departure and from airport after arrival.

Just wondering how early they pick up prior to flight time?
We are flying out of Melbourne on a 22.10pm flight to LHR via ABU what time would they generally organise for pick up?
Incidentally we are probably 45min drive to the airport.

I have a flight booked more than 10 months ago which I'm looking at changing. Does anyone know if this will be considered a new or old booking? Should I book the chauffeur before changing the flights, etc? Any insights would be hugely appreciated.

Not sure if you would be considered a new booking, but if you already have one booked and your flight changes you need to rebook chauffeur - it isn't done automatically...

Had to change date for one of the flights on an itinerary booked before the changes. Called EY to select seat and book chauffeur. Was told although it is an existing booking in which the chauffeur has already been booked before, once I've changed the date they can't book it again due to the current AA ticketing rules.
When logged in to try book it online the system allowed me to book the new date and got confirmation email.

Hope it sticks, with EY you never know...
