Etihad Economy Extra leg room seats

Hi everyone, Apologies if this has been answered somewhere, I searched in the various threads but couldn't find an answer.

Next year in April we are going with Etihad to Europe in Economy. We are happy to buy extra leg room seats on the longer MEL - AUH -MEL legs although at $225 per person per leg they are pricy!
Anyway, there are 2 options - an emergency exit seat or an "economy space" seat.
Had anyone travelled in one of these "space" seats? Are they much better than a normal economy seat?
Am I better to just choose an exit seat (unfortunately there are no bulkheads available).I normally like a window seat but if I choose the emergency exit seat, those at the window normally have the door protruding into your legs a bit. And emergency exits have the tray in the armrest and are a bit narrower too.

What to do, what to do!

My understanding is that the Economy Space seats have several extra inches of legroom. A bit like Economy X on VA or Economy Plus on United.

I haven't tried Economy Space on Etihad, but it did make a difference when flying long-haul on United.

The economy space seats are more roomy, but IMHO they’re not worth the asking price. It’s merely a bit more legroom. Nothing more.

As others have mentioned, the seat itself is exactly the same as a normal seat, just with more legroom. It does make a fair bit of difference if you're tall, but not enough to make it that much easier to shuffle in and out of the row from a window seat - hopefully that's a good guide.

Etihad offers 3D cabin tours from the seat selection screen for most of their aircraft types if I recall correctly, so you can click around and see how it looks.

A fair chunk of the cabin is dedicated to these space seats and in my experience not too many people buy them, so if you're lucky you may just be assigned one of these seats at check in anyway. Etihad also changes the pricing for these seats (based on demand or time to departure perhaps?) from time to time - when there's a sale price, you'll see a price in black strikethrough and a discounted price shown in green.

I got assigned comfort seats for free by a telephone operator once, but the staff at check in and in the lounge have told me they couldn’t move me to comfort seats without payment. Oddly, Etihad will just place signs on those unsold empty seats telling people not to sit there. It’s a shame partner airline status holders don’t get complimentary access in those cases.

Depends on the aircraft type, but IIRC and you are on a 777-300 the overwing exit door (doors 3 L and R) won’t have a slide bustle protruding into the cabin as the slide is contained in the aircraft fuselage.

Yep agree, all their channels charge money if you request to be assigned a space seat (at least officially), even at check in. I've lucked out a couple of times though with having it automatically assigned during online check in (though if I recall correctly, I wasn't able to choose a different space seat to the one assigned)
