Hi guys,

Just wondering if there is any flexibility with Etihad with the 12 month rolling period for obtaining miles for Silver status.

I'm at Etihad Guest level, but had 21000 tier miles before I flew Perth-Abu Dhabi-Dublin last week. Unfortunately 9000 of those tier miles expired 10 days before I flew, as I last made this trip just over 12 months ago.

I now once again have 21000 miles before I make the return trip, but again another 9000 miles will expire one week before flying.

Poor planning on my part I know, and I should make Silver next year, but has anyone experienced a similar situation and gotten some leeway with Etihad?

Cheers.

I was one day off from qualifying Gold, but they didn't give me any leeway when I asked for consideration via e-mail - fair enough!

You're welcome, but don't let me deter you, and e-mail them anyway - you never know! :D

I have thanks but am never too sure if Etihad Guest will reply. 40000 tier miles in 13 months- I tried to make a case! I'll let you know if I'm successful.

I don't think I've ever reached the threshold, but they've always renewed my Silver Status anyway. I put it down to them buying my loyalty, and with the lounge access that came with Silver, it worked. Next year, not so sure it will work...

Sorry to bother. Can you use Etihad lounge with VA silver status..

I have no experience of Virgin's program. You may get an answer here, but I suspect you'll do better on the Virgin threads.

Thanks IrishPete, that's good to know. Once I hit Silver once I should be able to maintain it with an annual flight and tier miles from Coles.

In the meantime I got an automated type reply advising me of the 25000 tier miles needed in a 12 month rolling period, and that I would automatically be changed once it was reached. No leeway there.

I mainly want status to help with upgrades, although I do do at least transit through Abu Dhabi in terms of lounge access.

Scullkr - I'm not sure it's any help with upgrades. You do get a few more miles from being Silver. And the lounge access in Abu Dhabi is okay, but you can sometimes be lucky to find a seat in the Al Reem lounge, and its a fairly long walk from where you may otherwise need to be. In the past I've also had to wait a long time for a shower there (there aren't many) but the last two trips the wait has been very short (basically waiting for it to be cleaned after the last user). Lounge access in other airports, that was REALLY worth it, but ends at the end of this year, unless they change their minds.
