That's a large amount! You seem pretty confident they won't... any feelings why?
EY are only pulling out because they can't make any money/losses too extreme to tolerate. And they have a decent network to feed to in AUH.
VA have none of that, there is an extreme over capacity, they don't have the aircraft, can't really finance purchasing new ones, wouldn't be interested in second hand EY ones (already been burnt by EK second hands years ago), have a higher cost base, no network to feed in to, if EY can't make it work themselves with a new fleet and economy of scale then VA won't make money with more costs.
Perth based Velocity flyers have been kicked in the teeth, again.
2017: Loss of half of benefits via one stop to USA, South America flying NZ
2018: Loss of all benefits on NZ
2018: Loss of one-stop East Coast USA and one-stop Europe via VA main partner.
I wish VA the best of luck while the A330s also disappear from the transcon flying. I'd be worried about keeping the high value flyers if I was them.
