Wow, not sure how it works out the cost, but I had to book a flight from Singapore to Amsterdam and then to Canberra (May-June 2016). The Etihad website quoted me SGD1200 (about $1200!), which I consider a bargain. It also allows free stopovers if i wished in India or AbuDhabi etc. Too bad I cant use my Qantas Club privileges, but maybe my Qantas HSBC Platinum card will give me access to some PriorityPass lounges along the way...

And yes, I did book it :)

PS. Should I give them my Virgin or my American Airlines frequent flyer number??? AA I can use on Qantas I suppose...

Good work...
I have also booked KUL-FRA-PRG-SYD flying Etihad in early Oct'15 for $640.42 per adult!

Geez, I thought I had a huge bargain :) Looks like it would have been even cheaper to fly from KL :) Ah well... Still a bargain, need to remember that these fares are so much cheaper from KUL etc. A lot also depends on the plummeting value of the Aussie dollar, and now is not a good time :(

SO, BIG QUESTION, SHOULD I CREDIT POINTS TO MY VIRGIN OR MY AMERICAN AIRLINES account. I mainly use Qantas routes for redemption, so I figured the AA account would be better since I can book Qantas flights through AA... What do other people do?

Assuming the AA earning rates haven't changed (used to be min of 1point per mile on all Etihad classes) you would be flying close to 17700 miles. A O/W J redemption in AU/NZ is 17500, so you should be able to earn that crediting to AA. I think the virgin earn has recently been cut for entry level fares to 0.25 per mile, so unless wanting status credits I would go the AA route.

Thank you very much! That works well for me too. I'm just not familiar with these two airlines.
