Hello folks. I have booked a month long trip to Europe, departing Sydney late February 2012. My missus and my 20yo daughter will be accompanying me. We'll be flying QF 1/2 with a stopover in BKK on the way home, and BA a few times. One of the two aforementioned ladies will be OK to accompany me into the various QF/BA clubs, but I then need to get the other female in too.

Here's my questions for the astute AFF forum thinkers: Should I purchase an annual guest card? Are they issued pro-rata according to membership expiry date etc? Should I rather rely on the goodwill of a passing (single) QF club member to get my wife or daughter in as a guest?

Any shared knowledge here appreciated, with thanks.

Note that BA are currently preventing access to LHR T5 lounges to QP members so even you wont be able to get in.

As simongr mentions BA and QF are currently " negotiating" the access of QP members to BA lounges.
The annual guest card can only be used in QF lounges and the joint BA/QF lounges at BKK/SIN/HKG it cannot be used for the BA lounges in LHR and Europe even if the QP access to BA is sorted by the time of your trip.
$470 is a lot of money to spend and only you can decide if you think it's worth that for access to the Asian Lounges and SYD en-route.
If you will make full use of it throughout the year then IMO may be worth it, if just for this trip then I personally would not buy one.

For me, I'd just buy a guest pass, enjoy the holiday without the hassles.

Also, check that you will be able to use the Guest pass the way you expect: I found this on the QF site:

~ The Annual Guest Card is only accepted in Qantas operated lounges branded as The Qantas Club and joint Qantas/British Airways or Qantas/American Airlines®. It is not accepted in associated and partner airline lounges (British Airways, American Airlines®).

That or you could just smuggle a few drinks and something to eat out to whoever can't come in (maybe rotate it)...

They miss out on the 'ambience' of the lounge but at least save a few bucks...
