From the AFR (behind a paywall) - Eurostar cancels all train services after WWII bomb discovered

Paris | The discovery of an unexploded World War II-era bomb near the tracks severed Paris’ high-speed rail links with London and Brussels on Friday, dashing travellers’ weekend getaway plans and causing cascading disruptions to scores of other trains to and from France’s busiest railway station, the Gare du Nord in Paris.

I still find it amazing after all this time they are still finding bombs with thousands of people very close by
Really? A lot or ordinance was dropped on both sides during WW2 and some didn't detonate on impact. They'll be coming across this in Europe (including the UK) for many years to come. And let's not even think about Ukraine.

There's many places in the world where this is an ongoing issue, unfortunately.

Carpet bombing. Some exploded, others got buried in rubble with buildings essentially demolished, flattened then built on top of again.
Many cities have seen their ground level increase over the years.

I'm trying to work out how an 80 year old bomb could be found "on" tracks built 30 years ago and not have been found when building said tracks.
