Nothing of value to add to this thread, but I just had to gloat somewhere. Booked a Sixt rental recently ex AMS. When we arrived got upgraded to a Merc diesel, a nice bonus that saved us quite a bit in fuel expenses over a 21 day Euro trip. Gloat over.

Does Sixt have a reputation? Pre-existing damage was noted on the agreement. A chip in the windscreen and a crease in the passenger door. Aside from a scrape on the skirt under the front bumper the car was returned without any other damage. Maybe it is the professional attitude at Sixt Schiphol but I escaped without any damages.

Sorry my mistake , I misread your post completely and thought you had rented from Europcar! No idea about Sixt.

Being my first European rental I was a bit concerned at the time that I could get lumbered with all sorts of damages. I had expected to be picked up for the scrape on the front skirt and was relieved when it turned out all good.

Car rental in Europe, irrespective of company, seems to have a bad reputation, particularly the likes of Italy.

You could've started another thread gloating about Sixt!

Probably could do with a mod sectioning the Sixt bit off into a new thread as other will be happy to be able to find it easily.

I must admit to ignoring Sixt altogether as I was under the impression they are affiliated with that rip off mob that makes me see RED SPOTs in front of my eyes. Not even the Pope would win my favour if he associated with that lot!
