Doesn't seem really exclusive. Couldn't you just tell someone the sale code and it wouldn't matter if they were a Velocity member or not - they still get the discount?

That said, joining Velocity is free of charge anyway.

Yes, but it would stop Mr Joe Public going to book a flight and getting a discount without the code.

On a recent flight a flight manifest (not sure if that's the right word) may have been left close to me.... On an East coast flight....... let's say that...

150ish passengers on-board
Quite a few P (Platinums) and G (Gold) onboard... Appeared to be about 5P and 15G.... A few S and R.......

But the large majority of the flight has no status and/or did not put their Velocity number with their booking....

Sale after sale, after sale. I can't remember the last time I paid full price for a VA flight.

I missed the deadline for this promotion by a few hours but a few days later they have another sale with SYD-BNE airfares just $6 more than this promotion at $85 one-way.

Agreed.

I am not an expert but they both appear to be struggling with forward sales which may be more related to their expensive airfares than the current economic climate.

Personally I feel the non-sale airfares ($114 DJ, $133 QF for SYD-BNE) are way overpriced and I will try and find ways to reduce my spend such and trying to commute SYD-OOL instead of SYD-BNE. But at least I have a choice. Others don't.
