I've been in a very strange period of time (for me) where I haven't needed to step on an aircraft for nearly 18 months, and I've lost my gold status as a result, but can someone please tell me what the expiry length of time is for QFF points if you don't do any flying? I know that there is one but I don't know what it is?

18 months is the answer you are after.

Points will expire after 18 months of inactivity. If you haven't earned a single QFF point in that timeframe, it is time to assess your options.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Expenditure of points will also extend their life. However, transferring points, either in or out of the account does not count for activity.

As others have pointed out, it seems that you urgently need some activity. Assuming you don't have a QFF-earning credit card, and have no plans to fly imminently (or even book a reward flight), I think the quickest and easiest options are:*
- Buy something from the QF online mall: https://onlinemall.qantaspoints.com/
- Buy some wine from Epicure: https://www.qantasepiqure.com.au/
- Dine at a restaurant where you can earn QFF points: https://restaurants.qantaspoints.com/

* without wasting QFF points that is - you could also just redeem some points for a toaster or something.

OK many thanks everyone. So it's time for a flight or buying something using points then :-)

Online mall takes about 30 days to post. Epicure is quickest.

Not necessarily! See my post above - I think I posted it at exactly the same time as you posted this.

That's true. I was thinking that the actual transaction date is all that matters - but now I'm not so sure. I agree Epicure is the safest bet.

Might be a good excuse to book a flight and go and see the parents down in Tassie.

Just checked and 18 months gives me until the middle of August so a trip to see the folks should work.

or buy some groceries :-)

You mean at Woolies? They only transfer rewards points to QFF once a quarter these days, and the next transfer isn't due until 15 September. Plus you now have to earn at least 2,000 Woolworths Rewards points before you get any QFF points.
