Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those affected by this tragic event.

All Qantas Group employees have been accounted for. Hope all AFFers travelling through the area are also safe and well.

While there are no changes to our operations, options are available for passengers travelling to and from Bangkok between 18-25 August 2015: bit.ly/1hPaEjS

Red Roo - the link takes us to a page which says 'options are available' - but doesn't seem to outline what those options are. Are you able to shed some light?

I think the point is that pax are supposed to ring the call centre to discuss the options.

There was another, smaller, explosion today at Sathorn Pier, thought to be a grenade.
No-one hurt this time.

Really sad news out of BKK.

Hope you’re not too shaken JessicaTam and anyone else in the area. That's quite scary!

Have a trip planned for next week – feeling somewhat nervous about it. Still think I’ll go though.

For anyone there right now, what are things like today?

I am heading out of Bangkok for a few days. I will back on Saturday for a couple of days if you want to meet up.

Security is certainly higher. There are more security guards at the train stations and on the trains. There did not appear to be any extra security at BKK (Suvarnabhumi) when I arrived this afternoon. No particular security presence at Sathorn Pier.

I passed the shrine on the train earlier, and the streets have been scrubbed clean. Very much an attempt to get everything back to normal as quickly as possible.

That's really interesting – thanks for the insight.

I arrive into BKK on Fri 28 so might miss you if you're off before then, but if you're still around it'd be great to meet up.

I'm a little spooked so I can't imagine what it was like being there. Stay safe!

I am coming and going a little, but will be back on the 28th until the 30th.

Apparently not the person police sketched but still seems linked to the incident.

Thoughts are he was the bomb maker. Police scanned phone calls made in that area during that time - came up with three Turkish roaming phones and went from there. Massive logistical effort to get and then sift through all that data.

Impressed with the sleuths for their investigative work. Hope they nail the bomber and his affiliates.

Does seem they may have the right guy.Supposedly belongs to a group upset with Thailand for sending Uighurs back to China. They were behind the bombing of the Thai Embassy in Turkey.

Not sure if mentioned on this thread but when I was in Pattaya from 08 September through to 15 September it was mentioned that a reward was offered for the capture of those involved.

After the police made the arrests they were given the reward and they posed with the reward for all to see.

That is just so wrong on so many levels. Why would anyone think it's logical for police officers to accept a monetary reward other than their salary for doing their job?

Look at it as a bonus...over and above salary.
