Extra guests into QP

I'm sure the dragons have a bit of leeway on these rules, knowing what they can get away with an such. I'm sure the pretty colors and class of travel always help when the need arises.

All in all though, I see all these positive experiences as karma. I have invited others (fellow pax) to the lounges before. The most memorable person was this mature lady, who was on her way to CPH (via LHR), and seemed a bit lost at SIN during transit. So I invitied her into the J lounge, and she was very happy and suprised(after asking why I chose her and what the J lounge was about). Her trip got even better as she later got op-uped to Y+ at the boarding gate.
A bloody nice thing to do too. Can't say I've ever had the opportunity to do this, so good on you for doing it :)

My previous experience was confirmed t the end of March in SYD F Lounge and LAX J Lounge. Mr & Mrs Tooner and 3 little Tooners asked nicely to come in and were welcomed. IN LAX MIL was also admitted.

We always take the attitude that we can only ask, and if refused, be gracious and retire. At least that's the theory: practice will be demonstrated in JFK next week when we try to enter the BA lounge:shock:

flying with wife and 2 little ones under 3 yrs, hopefully they let us in Syd and LAX! only the one Qantas Club member

Children under a certain age usually don’t use up your guest slots, but can’t remember what age. Hopefully they’re young-enough looking… though in the future you may need to buy a partner membership ;)

I was let into QP Sydney T2 last week wtih a guest pass, flying Aeropelican.

I was upfront about knowing this was against the rules but tried to be as polite as I could..

Perhaps more evidence to support the who's there and how polite you are argument.

... and what mood or type of day the lounge attendant is having :!:

I've managed to get into Flounge in SYD and J lounge in LAX with wife and 3 kids (2,4 & 7) +MIL in LAX.

The 5 Tooners also managed to get into a Terraces Lounge in JFK on Friday (always a sense of achievement in getting into a BA lounge with more than one guest:cool:)

I will be going QF to Auckland for July school holidays traveling with Shrek who is WP, myself WP and 4 kids (14-5) all NB. Would we be allowed to take all 4 of them into the F lounge at SYD or would it be stupid to ask?
This is the first time we have travelled as a family with 2x WP.
Also what are the lounge options at Auckland as we have a long layover on way back?

I don't think you will have a problem taking in 4 children into the F lounge in SYD depending on how busy the lounge is and who is at reception. It cannot hurt to give them a call beforehand.

In AKL there is a QF First/Business Class Lounge which opens early in the morning. From memory the First Lounge is not that big and could be very cramped with 4 children on the loose.

Three years old and under

At MAD airport (which is HUGE and at times confusing) - Iberia VIP lounge (very nice lounge, though no wireless internet)...

... I was able to guest in a colleague of mine who's on a different IB flight. I was on my way to LHR and she's enroute to IST. They did scan both of our BPs but didn't ask any questions.

That's in line with the oneworld T&C's. (oneworld - Lounge Access):
... (with one guest travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld airline) ...

It's Qantas who have the 'guest travelling with member' rule for their elite FFer's in Qantas Lounges. (Just like AA have an "'international' itinerary" requirement for their AAdvantage elites in AC's/FL's.

Under 5 get in automatically and don't count against your guest allowance. edit: just checked and now it says under 3 ... interesting, pretty sure it used to be 5.

Been flying with my wife and kids for years, never had a problem getting them into domestic QC lounges on my QC membership.

Eldest is about to turn 6, wonder how long before they start asking how old he is?

I was also travelling with 2 work colleagues and asked nicely at Brisbane and Singapore if I could get them both into the lounge, even though I knew I was only supposed to have 1 guest. Received a yes in both cases, when the Singapore lady seemed to be wavering I broke the tension by saying "I promise he won't eat anything" :) That got a laugh and a "yes".

Just ask someone else who is walking into the lounge to say that you are all together, ive had many people ask me that

Anyone else see the irony in this thread when read in conjunction with the threads about QP overcrowding ;)

All 6 members of the Shrek family were admitted to the F Lounge, made good use of a private meeting room for us prior to flight. Also all admitted to F lounge in AKL. Moet was nicely chilled ;)

Would any lounge dragon have the nerve to try and stop 6 ogres entering.:D

I have been refused 2 guests when only a PS(QC), I was traveling with my wife and her friend and the dragon in PER said 1 guest only, we were all traveling and they would not let me in with two guests.

Other times I have taken 3 people into J lounge SYD when I was not even traveling with them.

In addition to my earlier lounge admissions I've recently been fortunate to be able to have 2 guests join me in the BA LGW lounge as a WP which I certainly wasn't expecting given how they police entry at LHR but they didn't seem to care.

I was also lucky enough to be able to share my WP privileges with a gent having a particularly bad day (flight cancellations and delays) in SIN earlier in the year who was appreciative of the facilities available.

I agree with the other posters - sometimes you're just lucky and politeness and a smile helps to win the day.

To drag out the metaphor, surely that would depend on whether you were bringing along an cough for the dragon to fall in love with. :p
