Typical PC users spend quite a few hours of a day in front of an emitting monitor which may cause ample damage to the eye. During a visit to an optician recently, one of my best friends was advised an eye exercise by a specialist doctor for the eyes. This exercise is very much effective to get relief from the pressure that the eyes experience during long time use of computers.

After looking into the PC screen every 20 minutes, turn your head to another direction and try to look at an object located at least twenty feet away. By doing this, your eye’s facial length will change which will help the tired eyes to relief some pressure.
Sit straight at your workstation and rub your palms against each other till you feel them warm. The warmth of your palms helps soothe and relax tired eyes. Then, lightly cup your eyes with your palms and relax for 60 seconds. Count the seconds in your mind. Repeat this exercise two to three times whenever your eyes feel tired, or as often as you want. While palming, you can either rest your elbows on your desk or keep away from the desk and cup your eyes. Both ways are fine.

Thanks!
I've just had a great experience/scare with my eyes - symptoms for a detaching retina. Luckily I'm just old, everything is fine except for needing glasses. But I highly suspect that it was eye strain from computer screens. So great tips for people.

mickle_john, you are a liar. One of your best friends did not get that advice recently.

The same post (verbatim) is on many different websites going back to 2009.

Hi mickle_john - Thank you for the reminder on eye care tips for computer users which I had forgotten.

But just a word of caution if you are going to use previous posts (verbatim) as russ has pointed out someone/people on this and other sites will bring it to everyone's notice.

Just for future reference say hey look what I found on xx_ then quote it.

Welcome :)

Thanks for that contribution - does the lack of originality change the quality of advice in any way?

Yes, because its boilerplate text that SEO / spammers post in boards like this to get their post count up so they can start posting links to their websites. Try a google search on the username mickle_john. "Pay per click, CPA, Social Media, White Hat Seo, Blogging" Exactly 4 posts in various forums. Ugh.

Just recently wanted to have a drink with a friend whom I haven’t seen for a while but they told me, they had given up due to loss of brain cells and his specialist told him.

“Regardless of how healthy the typical adult mind is, we all lose a high number of neurons (brain cells) everyday through inactivity – not to mention, after-work drinks. One way neuroscientists and other medical experts claim we can keep our brains in better shape is through active, structured training. This not only helps develop additional capacity, but protects against deterioration by tapping into your own neuroplasticity – that is, the brain’s ability to change itself by remodelling nerve-cell connections in response to experience.

Stimulating your brain can be as simple as doing a crossword, ………”

STOP IT heleigh can’t go on with this lie - it is verbatim - lol – I issue a challenge as to where I found this article :?:

Have fun

An article in the November edition of Voyeur magazine? The same edition that gives the answer Thomas Edison to the question "Who invented the electric lightbulb?"

LOL only 30 mins late! Gotta love Google

Hi...,
This is very informative and great tips for me about eye care. Really my work is in front of computer daily. so my eyes are so paining after completed my work.

Thanks......

Sounds like a good tip and one that I have been trying to follow for many years.

My eyes get extremely tired, one eye is lazy as well, and find that I need to look around every so often and take a short walk outside of the office for 5-10 minutes at a time a few times a day.

I have been wearing glasses while using a computer for ~8 weeks and can use those same glasses to read as well. Strength is quite high but I am now realising that my eyes have become used to glasses and will also need the distance prescription I have been trying to avoid.

Strangest of all is how my mind will not adjust to the glasses and find myself taking them off and putting them back on again many times a day. Glasses feel very uncomfortable.
