F Awards Emirates

LadyC- Did Qantas end up ticketing it for you?

No they didn't because the ticket had already been taken (but the feed not updated). However, a wonderful service agent spent a lot of time finding us an alternative flight.

Why not book your Qantas F award and then very close up to your flight EK often releases 2 seats. Check close up and you'll see what it might be like.

May well be the case.
Last month I booked DXB-SYD in F about two weeks before travel on EK.

Just reported the phatom availability to Qantas when I called to see if the seats were actually available (they weren't) and they were going to have someone look into it *as it was the first time someone has reported the fault*. I mentioned that other people had mentioned the same issue so go figure.

I said there was no availability other than Economy all the way through to mid March next year where EK award seats stop. Hopefully the resolve the feed issues as there has always been seat availability on the route I was checking.

I do hope they fix it. There used to be availability on EK flights from DXB to MEL,ADL,SYD etc in both First & Business and even though the Gold and Silver emblems are there, when clicking on that date only brings up Economy flights. Now either Qantas is restricting that access to those flights which used to be readily available (from the time EK award seats went live on the QF website) or there is a bug somewhere when they meddled with the LHR restriction, etc.

You might be right zalnman. Still not fixed as of today. Still showing phantom Business and First availabiliy from Dubai to Australia which when clicked on only shows Economy. I rang again and the lady said the feed from EK comes through on Monday so it probably hasn't updated. I said the info on Business and First class availanility on EK flights was always live and available and now nothing. Said she would forward it on but I'm not holding my breath,

Rang again as this problems still exists (site shows Business & First availability from Australia to DXB and vice versa on EK metal, but only displays Economy flights year through). The guy I spoke to checked the database for reported faults and couldn't see it lodged even though I have now reported it twice and he said he would report it himself. Sigh. It seems it's going to be a long saga.

Sorry to hear about your experience but can't say I am surprised. Thanks for keeping us posted.

I have noticed the same fault searching for award flights SYD-NRT. J availability is shown, but when a date is selected only the Y seats are displayed.

5 weeks on and still no resolution. I'll try calling again tomorrow.

Glad I found this thread as I am having the exact same 'phantom availability' problems, so 7 months on and there is no resolution.

Lots of First Class seats available and then ..... "we can't confirm your seats".

Is it just me or are F awards on EK metal through QF hard to come by for Mel-dxb on the 388.

On the 77W via KUL there is plenty of availability 6+ months out but not so for the 388 it seems

I want a MEL-KUL and KUL-MEL next year between May and the end of August. Not fussy at all about dates at this stage.

You say there is availability but I just did the search now and nothing at all is showing up. Plenty of business but no F at all.

I have selected the F check box - anything else I am doing wrong?

I know the availability comes up at the last minute quite often and that is what we planned to use but if can find it in advance all the better.

Dale.

Which routes?

DXB-BKK around August 2015, lots of 1 x F, 2 x J seats. I'm able to enter passenger details, click proceed and says 'we can't confirm your seats'.

Anyway, the flights are definitely bookable via the call centre which I did. The taxes they charge, well, I almost needed to take a Panadol after hearing it. ~$500pp

Emirates surcharges/tax/fees are a bit like that, a mate of mine recently paid around $700 for an F award DXB-PER.
Apparently a couple of years back, they used to be like EY generally under a hunge, but looks like they caught onto QFs idea of 'enhancements' lol simpler and fairer

Emirates had to put their taxes up after a few months of QFF being able to book their awards. Everyone was redeeming on EK and not QF so Joyce got EK to up their taxes to level the playing field which of course was a nice enhancement.

Yeah I'm looking to book JFK-DXB soon'ish as well and the taxes are like US$700 per person -that's huge in my books. Now I am deciding whether to just fly QR instead (ableit in J), save $500 per person, and visit Doha for a few nights, tick another country off my list, then make my way to DXB, spend some time there, then for my flight to BKK.

Must you leave from JFK ?

Perhaps consider leaving from IAD and fly to AUH on EY plenty of award availability in F and you get to try their brand new First Suite as well on board the 789.

With current AA miles promo and exchange rate would cost you about A$2300 one way per person, which you may not see a super bargain. I don't understand why AA charge a 50% premium for East coast to Middle East over Australia to Middle East given they are similar miles/distances. Mel/Syd-Middle East is only 60k miles as opposed to 90k which is what IAD-AUH will cost you.

Thanks for giving me some alternate suggestions. $2300 x 2 pax is a bit pricey for me for a 11 hour flight. I have some Qantas points so thought I'd try using some of that before paying cash (or buying miles). Plus I have LM, DM and KF sitting there that I need to use too.
