F Lounge Access with Plat

As a QFF Platinum member, when can I access the Qantas F lounge?

Do I have to be travelling on an OW airline?

eg: If i fly emirates or SQ from SIN to Jakarta, can I still access the F lounge in Singapore? Or, can I even have access the Qantas/BA biz lounge in SIN?

Also, when travelling on an OW airline, are there any areas of OW F lounges I can't access? I have heard of the concorde room with BA?

Do OW emeralds get priority boarding with CX and BA?

My understanding is that the Concorde room is special and that if you have F access then you have F access - the Concorde Lounge is not an F lounge by normal definitions.

You do get priority boarding with CX/BA - just not when they dont have priority boarding e.g. Club Europe often does not have priority boarding at all....

My understanding is, as a QFF Platinum you have access to any Qantas Club lounge whether flying or not. As this privilage is honoured but no longer appears in the T&C's I can not remember if it extended to QF Flounges. However you should also have access to a QC lounge that is also a JLounge. All access is subject to

"Qantas Club staff have the discretion to refuse entry to any Member or guest at any time for any reason deemed appropriate by Qantas

Access to other OW airline lounges is a OW Emerald benefit, so you must be flying a OW airline to gain access.

Just noticed this paragraph on the 'benefits' page of the Qantas Club section on the QF website.

When visiting an international Qantas Club lounge, you are able to invite one guest each time you visit. Both you and your guest need to be travelling together further that day on a Qantas or British Airways flight. Platinum Frequent Flyers and their guest are welcome in the lounge, even when not travelling on Qantas or British Airways.

But strangely, its not mentioned in the T&C anywhere????

Any ideas if this still holds up in Singapore? ie Can QFF Plats access the SIN biz lounge at any time, when not flying with QF? Is the SIN QF/BA Biz lounge considered a Qantas Club??

I read on another thread that benefit had disappeared from the T&C's but was listed as a benefit for Platinum members. Yes, you should have access to the QF/BA SIN J lounge at any time.

I believe that you need to have a boarding card for a seat in F to gain access to the Concorde Room, no matter how "elite" you are.

This has, I think, been mentioned in a another thread, but personally I think QF (and other airlines) would do well to adopt a similar lounge-entry policy - a 'First' lounge that is really restricted to F pax only (and maybe CL members).

A second-tier lounge could be for WP's and SG's, plus those holding a boarding-card for a seat in J. Non-rev passengers travelling in F would be restricted to the 2nd-tier lounge.

The third-tier lounge would be for those passengers who have paid for QC access. Hey, it would still be better than sitting out in the terminal with the Steerage passengers...

This would absolutely assist in maintaining the quiet, exclusive nature of the First lounges, which is one of the reasons why those of us who fly First class do so.

Or a BA Premier Card should also do the trick . When it comes to BA, Prem is generally status enough (similar to Chairmans Lounge with Qantas).

I am not sure the paid QC members would really be below a SG, they actually faid for the privlege, Ok so i am a lifetime member purchased when it was not so expensive and doing enough domestic Y to justify the expense, now i am SG and actually found it really not too difficult to attain.

Regardless i take your point about F lounge, i may make WP this year, maybe not but i could imagine it would be rather annoying for an F passanger to have the place filled up with people like me flying discount Y most of the time. Not very exclusive.

But i will change my mind if i do make WP this year

Chucksta, the Qantas/BA first class lounge in Singapore is in Terminal 1 whereas the SQ flights operate from terminal 2 which is not very convenient . My understanding is that you do have to be travelling on QF/BA or another OW carrier to use the lounge. I use it monthly (only in the mornings) and it is pretty good although I understand the SQ flounge is even better.

So you are saying that even someone who travels in J for all domestic travel but doesnt go overseas but has WP status shouldnt be allowed in the top-tier lounge if travelling Y overseas???

Disagree entirely. I am no snob, yet not an average punter either, but I respect the environment I am in - be it CL/Flounge/QC. If people are not respecting the environment then kindly ask the lounge-dragon and I am sure they would be more than happy to oblige with your request.

Forget exclusivity with QF except if CL. That is their top-tier - not those who travel First occaisionally. If you travelled F very often it is most likely you would be granted CL status anyway because of the amount of moo-lah you are sending Qantas Airways Ltd's way.

I can imagine Qantas' reaction if asked to provide YET ANOTHER lounge.:shock:

To summarise WP access:

• QF WP's/CL's can access QP's anytime.
• This is specific to Qantas Clubs or lounges run by Qantas. (So no anytime access in LHR, but ok in AKL, SIN)
• They do not have to be flying QF/BA/AA.
• Internationally you must be airside to access these, so you gernally need to be travelling. This is distinct from domestic qp's.

FWIW, I am very quiet when FLounges.

I've used the Qantas F Lounge in Singapore when not flying QF or another OW carrier: the staff have no problems at all with it, or with me bringing in a guest. Have also managed to get two guests into the same lounge, which did cause the desk staff to pause for a second, but they agreed anyway.

Best privelege of Qantas Plat is to be able to use the CX F lounge in HK when flying CX somewhere (even a CX codeshare). Now there's a lounge! Lovely dining room, noodle bar, and big private 'cabins' to shower and lie down in...

I was in HKG last night but had to make do with the QP, as onward connection was with CZ. No issue from lounge staff, other than stating that no boarding announcements would be made for the CZ flight. Being open like it is, can easily hear the general boarding announcements anyway.

Will get to use CX Flounge before my flight home at the end of the week.

Do you just rock up to the Qantas F lounge in SIN and flash your Platinum card and show them a boarding pass for any airline (eg EK or SQ)? Do you need to say anything, or can it be expected to gain access to the F lounge?

In international lounges, they generally ask for your BP irrespective of the carrier. I have never refused as I always have one. (You can't get airside in normal circumstances without one)

Of when flying any OneWorld carrier. I will be FLounging at The Wing in about 12 hours when transiting HKG on QF29 to LHR.

Pass each other by a few hours... i am sitting in the CX J lounge at the moment. I also dont mind the QF one because it can be quieter when no BA or QF flights close to departure. Shall we say smaller and cosy.

One of these days i will actually meet some of you guys in a lounge somewhere in the world.

The concorde room in london used to be for Concorde passengers only. After concorde stopped flying it was then used for "paid and ticketed" first class passengers only. This meant that plats couldn't use it (in the way that they generally have access for first) and it also meant that if you upgraded to first (points or operational) you couldn't get into it either. However, i think the concorde room at LHR is now closed .. .. .. .. but i could be corrected.
