C'mon folks, there must be more of you out there with Facebook accounts...

Likewise, now that I'm with another company they have much stricter web controls...

Well for the record I'm female. Looking at that pic I think I would feel a bit intimidated turning up to an event only to find I was the only female. On the other hand I work in a male dominated industry and am often the only female in meetings and that doesnt bother me so I guess that shouldnt either!

Maybe I will make it some day..

And by the way, we arent all staying home looking after the kids.. lots of us are travelling too! We either dont have kids, or hubby looks after the kids or in my case, the nanny does and hubby and I travel together (we run our companies together)..

Diversity is the spice of life :)

Cheers

There have been quite a few females come along to the 2 AFF meets we have had, so certainly don't feel like you'd be the odd one out

Didn't see this before, joined.

Seems rather pointless though seeing as I come to the site for updates, and the last event posted in that group seems to be in November '08.

Facebook Invitation said:
I invited you to join Facebook a while back and wanted to remind you that once you join, we'll be able to connect online, share photos, organize groups and events, and more.
Can anyone confirm if this the standard Facebook invitation?

I think below is the standard facebook's invitation:

I set up a Facebook profile where I can post my pictures, videos and events and I want to add you as a friend so you can see it. First, you need to join Facebook! Once you join, you can also create your own profile.

Although everyone has an option to alter them.

PS:

I had never received any reminder or second invitation for the same person despite some had been ignore for months. What you posted is sound like the subsequent reminder?

Yes this is a reminder from a good friend. Funny thing is I do not remember receiving the original invitation.

Can we look forward to seeing you in the AFF Facebook group JohnK?

Not that much ever happens on there. (The AFF group that is. Facebook is great.)

when one first time join the facebook, there is an option to let facebook went through our address book to send the invitation automatically. The one I posted was the standard facebook first invitation.

I had never use this option, i.e letting facebook peeping through my address book.

A lot of friends of mine using those option and ended up sending me invitation sometime multiple times since I have more than 1 email address. Some goes to my inbox, other went to the spam folder.

Just a reminder everyone, we have a facebook group. Join it and select the other members as friends. If you wish to keep the AFF group separate from your other friends, from the edit friends tab, create an AFF list and put your AFF friends in that list - that gives you the ability to keep your friends separated.

I'm not sure moving lounge meetups away from the forums, as per the message this afternoon is very good for the site in general.

Plus I dunno how many members are in the Facebook group but there are 18,000+ members of the site and a few hundred active posters at least a month. So more members use AFF than AFF Facebook.

I'll post my lounge meetups here thanks.

Where was this suggestion made? On Facebook? I can only guess who has made the request.

If it is for AFF Lounge meetings then I will continue to post them on AFF. I will also post them on Flyertalk.

As for Facebook if anyone on Facebook wants to have Lounge Meetings then they can post them there and meet all they like....

Yeah yeah yeah....

so, please tell me, what is the difference between...

"Hi Guys (and Girls)

What do you think if we post lounge visits (if we are able to guest) on here? A lot of us access FB far more often than AFF or FT and I think it would facilitate a few more impromptu gatherings!

I'll start the ball rolling next post"

and you...

" If it is for AFF Lounge meetings then I will continue to post them on AFF. I will also post them on Flyertalk."?

Isn't each just a medium to reach the masses?

You are welcome to not be part of the facebook group John, thats your choice, just dont be a hypocrite bagging something you are doing yourself, in just a slightly separate form.
