We are going to Canada in April/May 2019 (British Colombia and Alberta only) and have looked at booking Fairmont hotels on the Accor website. Surprised at the cost - cheapest Fairmont is the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver at $747 per night with the Fairmont Lake Louise $1289 per night. That is in Australian Dollars.

I do not know if any of the Fairmont Hotels in Canada participate when Accor have their 40% off world wide sales.

Is any one able to advise if they have been able to get a Fairmont Hotel in Canada on a Accor sale?

Can't answer your question about the sale, sorry, but the Fairmonts I think have always been way over-priced. You pay a lot for their 'iconic status' and the 'chateau' thing, but, having stayed in a couple over many years of visiting Canada (Calgary, Banff and Vancouver) I found that once you are inside, the stay wasn't that marvelous.

Unfortunately if you are an 'Accor person' (as I used to be), the selection in North America is pretty limited.

We had stayed at Lake Louise and Quebec many many years ago , a pleasant stay at LL and a fantastic xmas stay at Frontignac
When considering hotels for a more recent trip the per diem cost and the very average reviews saw us camp elsewhere

Roo Flyer, TG and DRRON thanks for your responses. Will not wait for the Accor sale!

Whilst I have the time during the Christmas Break was wanting to book our accommodation.

Shame about Accor in Canada - I have got great deals in Asia and France on Accor sales. My best deal was an M Gallery in the Opera District in Paris for around $200 a night on an Accor 40% off sale.

Wanting to book the Fairmont Vancouver Airport for July 2019 ( have stayed there multiple times ) and now they want $725 for one night on an advanced prepaid...Insane !!!....Incidentally was the same pricing last year....Anyone know why Vancouver prices have sky rocketed ?

PY welcome to my pain!

From my research so far Vancouver is the most expensive city I will have stayed in. I was hoping to find some deals with an Accor world wide sale but it would seem that i will have no luck there.

Have used Priceline NYOP in Europe very successfully (5* hotels in Frankfurt, Madrid and Amsterdam for around $120 AUD a night) but no luck in Vancouver for that.

Now looking at AIRBNB as we will be staying 3 nights and the cost will be around $650 for a 1 bedroom apartment which is acceptable for the 3 nights.

Up until last year the rates at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport were always sub $300 and now when any sale happens June and July are blacked out so we are rather stuffed !!!
As we have a 7.00am flight on AA to DFW we need to be at this hotel so will wait until I hopefully see something a bit less expensive...In passing I was told that because of the huge increase in cruises in and out of Vancouver this has led to a shortage of rooms and hence led to skyrocketing prices

We pass through Vancouver pretty much every year usually in winter on our way to Whistler but do stay in summer sometimes - 18 months ago we did the Rockies (Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise, Sunshine Coast, etc) and the prices in summer are very high. We avoided Fairmonts (even though we are "Accor people") - there are better and less expensive alternatives in all these places BUT you must book early - like now. Let me know if you would like a link to my travel blog for this particular trip (has hotel names but not prices) - average daily spend for the whole trip (3+ weeks) was around $1000 (including hotels, F&B, tours, hire car, but not flights as they were award tickets).

The Fairmont properties often also have a good Seniors rate, or Virtuoso amenameni. Wont help with the Accor sale discount, but will at least give you something

Triple rewards points offer for Fairmont (and possibly other Accor) properties in N America. Not sure it's worth it but to be fair I've not had many stays with Accor in Canada or the US.

Kermatu, thanks for that. From what I can see the only Fairmont property that has seniors rates is the Jasper hotel.

I made Platinum in December for the first time so would have liked to experienced at lease one stay in a Fairmont. Have over 43,000 points so might use some of those to stay at the Fairmont Waterfront the night before our cruise.

As I platinum for the first time not sure all the rules but hoping that all of my benefits extend to Fairmont Hotels in Canada and if I do book the Fairmont Waterfront I do get executive lounge access.

Triple points would be a bonus!

Have found on the Accor website that has a page as to what Platinum members get at hotels.

Told the wife that I am devastated as this is what I found:

"Access to Executive Lounge
If available at the hotel, excluding Fairmont Gold"
