Had only glanced at the headline tab on website in the past to see this, and assumed it was for any 6 family at same address -

Pool up to 6 family members

A family pool can consist of a max of 6 family members living at the same address*

Never had the issue to consider before, as my wife pools to me or v.v. depending on how we are travelling re SC etc at any time of each year. So it seems the Beneficiary is counted in the 2 adults Max? So only one adult can effectively pool to another account?

Now with a family member about to rack up hopefully 120 Status credits this week, asked them to add their number to my account, and got the message -

‘MAXIMUM ADULT CONTRIBUTION LIMIT EXCEEDED’

These are the rules right now -

'As a first step, decide which family member will collect the Points and Status Credits. This person is known as the beneficiary.

The other members of the family are known as the contributors. A contributing account member can start or stop contributing to a Family Pool at any time by logging in to your Velocity account and adjusting your Family Pooling settings. As a contributor, only Points and Status Credits earned after setting up Family Pooling in your Velocity account will be transferred to the beneficiary’s account.

A Family Pool can consist of a maximum of six family members (including the beneficiary) living at the same address and a maximum of 2 adults (18 years or older). If a third Family Pool member turns 18, they’ll be automatically removed from the Family Pool.'

So what if the new family member pools their points to my wife ... that also is banned it seems?

He tried that and got the message -

'Cannot Grandparent'

You have to remove one from the pool and add the other.

Note there are limits on how you can swap pooling members around.

(FWIW, without notice, quite a few accounts were suspended some years ago for what Velocity considered "excess swapping".)

Ha!

Well apart from spouse to spouse once a year or two, we do not bother them. Probably why I never read the small print. :D

Had not realised 2 adults was the MAX including the recipient, having seen the headline icon '6 members max' on the page. Had a feeling it was2 PLUS the beneficiary, buy clearly that is not the case.

We are flying this weekend domestically so will not mess with it as that is same weekend as relative, so it will get messed up for sure if we change the spouse to spouse pooling.

Never mind. A few SC will not be missed. Awash with them this year. :)

Tried finding other threads on family pooling but couldn't find.

I made Platinum last night. Travelling with daughter today and removed both of them from family pooling but cannot add myself and daughter to family pool to wife until midnight.

There does not seem to be a way so today's flights are going to be a waste if they credit quickly today.

Sometimes it might work in iphone/android instead of laptop.
Probably too late for you now, JohnK.
Other than that, is to transfer it later, in block of 5000 VFF points, ie, not the automatic way.

The rules are laid out and clear regarding the pooling.

Irrespective of when your pooling changes are made, the scheduled departure date is what counts.

If you had not lined up your pooling ducks beforehand, you are SOL.

Didn't get home until after 11:00pm the night before so not sure how quickly the last flight on Saturday night posted.

Not to worry as wife should get Gold with our return trip from BKK in July 2024 and that should at least allow the 3 of us in SQ lounges until July 2025. After that we can only maintain 1 Gold per year as we don't travel often.

By the way had no hope.

Remove family pooling takes effect after midnight.

Add family pooling takes effect after next midnight.

Anyway daughter and I both family pooling to wife now.

I haven't done the numbers, but is continuing to credit to you until you can gift gold to your wife a possible alternative?

dont know if this question has been asked but can you piggyback family pooling in VV?

Eg. Person 1 family pools to person 2 and person 2 family pools to me

Would I get both Points & SC's from both person 1 and person 2?

No further travel until we return from Thailand in January and then return trip to Thailand in June 2024 which should get wife Gold.

Then I drop back to Gold October 2024 and start accumulating Gold again.

No. If person 2 is part of a pooling arrangement already they can't also be part of an arrangement with person 3.

Can someone clarify something for me? Either I’ve got it wrong, or my VFF account is stuffed up.

  1. Both kids were pooling to Mrs AS.
  2. Now I want one kid to pool to me.
  3. I stopped one kids pooling and the next day tried to make them a contributor to me.
  4. I got the error message “Beneficiary is already a contributor in the family pool”.
Except I’m not contributing to anyone.

Or is this correct?

Any chance you put the wrong 'beneficiary' number in? e.g. the other child. Or that you're not also pooling to Mrs AS?

It sounds like it is saying the beneficiary entered was already another contributor.

I’m definitely not contributing to Mrs AS. Double checked the numbers. I put my son back to Mrs AS and it that went through fine, so I dunno what the problem is.
