Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

I shared a HBA-bound plane with the Hawthorn and North Melbourne football clubs yesterday. I think there were only a dozen of us non-footballers on board. The groups were huge. I guess they’re famous because the VA staff went a bit fan girl/boy, getting selfies with the players on the plane. The pilot came out to say hi to a North Melbourne person in row 3 before take off, and later made some strange announcement over the PA about dropping one of the teams in the sea.

Not really that interesting but a couple of weeks ago a bunch of AFL footy players trotted onto my QFd flight. I thought they had no choice but to fly Virgin, but I overheard Virgin had cancelled their flights so they booked onto Qantas.

The captain did a warm welcome over the PA but admitted he was a Carlton fan which drew a rowdy funny response from the cabin!

I was sitting in MEL VA Lounge last night (after cancellation of original flight and hour delay on new one). The whole Greater Western Sydney Giants (AFL) were there and all clustered around the TV’s watching Collingwood v Essendon (they arrived at quarter time with the Pies up 38-1). Lots of cheering the goals but I couldn’t tell which team they wanted to win.

Half the GWS coaching staff are ex Essendon players and several GWS players have moved to Essendon and a few were playing yesterday so I’d think they were probably cheering them on

Plus remember the immortal Kevin Sheehy T-shirt "I barrack for Essendon......" on the front and "..... And ANYONE playing Collingwood" on the back.

Sadly I do have to concede that the Jamie Elliot kick for goal was magnificent.

Graeme Hick, cricket, qf2 J class Singapore to Sydney now.

Also a lot of support staff from the Australian woman’s team returning from Ireland.

On the way over at Frankfurt airport was the mens cricket team from Cyprus transiting to Finland for the ICC T20 world cup qualifier, sub regional europe.

Matched in the reverse sense by Essendon players not lining up across the centre just in case the Bombers shot for goal with less than a minute to go missed.

Many years ago after attending a Broncos v. Storm match at QE2, having Billy Slater joke if he could have my 1F seat on my QF flight back to Melbourne.

I'm told that Julie Bishop just walked past the newsagents in CBR airport. I don't know how she looks, but my colleague pointed out to her and I then googled Julie Bishop

ha .. true .. but the thing I don't recognize the famous people here in AU anyway .. unless someone points it out to me ... so I might have served quite a few "famous" people so far, but I just didn't know that. I was told that there was a very famous AU cricketer that was in the store a few weeks back and apparently, I spoke 10 mins to him about wines & gin and sold him 2 bottles .. I didn't know he was famous (lol)

A bit like me. A blonde cut me off as I was entering the SYD Flounge and I gave her a daggers look. Mrsdrron says you don't know who it was do you. Well no. It was Charlise Theron.
