Which is probably why they dropped the MEL-PER & SYD-PER options.
It is definitely a return flight though, right? e.g. PER-SYD-PER :shock:

It is return, but where you can go is determined by the origin of the flight. So if your flights orginate in Perth, you can do PER-SYD-PER, but if you originate in SYD, you cannot do SYD-PER-SYD
Not upgradeable. Believe it is O class, but could be N.
It has been mentioned that you may be able to copay when booking into a higher class, thus being able to book into an upgradeable fare class.
I've redeemed a few (3) of these, and each time FF points were credited.
That said, for the last redemption, I was able to book into a different class simply by paying the fare difference between O and Q (no rebooking fee), so that might have been why FF points were awarded - maybe QANTAS thought it was a regular Q fare.

Yep, that's right
What's the bet that AMEX are happy to offer PER based residents a lower rating card now, rather than this one.... when you apply?
I was quick to take up this offer when the Platinum Credit Card was first released FOC to Plat Charge Card members. I booked as soon as eligible (after first month's statement) and I recall being able to look up the pricing in Qantas' "Manage your booking" after adding in my frequent flyer number. The price displayed (fare component) was exactly 10% below the O class fare component (ie. excluding taxes). The next time I booked (a year later) I noticed that the ability to look up the price was removed.Don't give them any ideas . In any case, given the number of these flights they 'giveaway', I am sure they are getting them at some sort of discount - not that anything I saw was giving away the price! And to get that discount, Qantas would probably expect a certain number of flights to be bought, which requires a certain number of cards to be out and about. So hopefully, they will do what they can to maintain the number of cards on offer they will probably have contracted to.

Hi all,
My Wife changed her ticket as she needed to come home early when we were in Brisbane 2 months ago. She then found out she could stay on as originally planned, but we missed the deadline to change the ticket back to the original return date. As a consequence, we had to forfeit that ticket.
I called up Amex and used our free ticket, but apparently there were no more seats in that class on the flight we needed on that day. We had to pay close to $200 and she was then able to get onto the flight. I explained that it was only for one way and the lady on the phone said it was a return ticket. To get around this, we didnt nominate a return date and just used it for one way.
Questions;
1. Are we able to use the return segment when we go back to Brisbane (Gold Coast) in February?
2. To this day, still cannot understand why I had to pay $200 on what is supposed to be a 'free flight'? Is this because I had to get a different ticket type which was in turn, a more expensive, flexible ticket type?
I am not sure about the 2 one way tickets rather than the 1 return ticket... but you have nothing to lose by asking
