Feedback on the Xenforo 2.1 Upgrade

There is a defect when dragging and dropping more than one image file into reply to a thread section. Only one of the files is attached and shown in the response. Previously if you dragged and dropped multiple files, all were uploaded and then you could decide to embed in the post as a full image or thumbnail. I use the latest version of Firefox.

This is unfortunately a restriction of the new editor. In the prior version of Xenforo (1.5) they used the Redactor editor. Since version 2.0 they switched to the Froala editor that only allows one image to be dragged-and-drooped at a time. However, it introduces other features in its place.

You may have noticed you can now resize images after upload, and more.

I hadn't but that is a good feature. I always thought the full sized pics in the previous version were too big. The size appears to be denominated in pixels. What is 100% H & W, please?

Have you tried your phone's browser settings? On Chrome and Firefox there's a checkbox to request desktop site.
I use Samsung internet browser. Much easier to use. I have to check settings. Don't like using Chrome on the smartphone and have never tried Firefox on the smartphone.

@support, I don't care if it's vBulletin or Xenforo, designing websites for tablets only is wrong as you don't get the same effect on the desktop or the smartphone. With websites such as Qantas there is limited functionality on mobile version and you need to visit full website for some functions.

Is the maximum number of photos / attachments still 10 per post?

How do you get to that page? I can't find it on my phone. It's an android.
What’s new > new posts.

That said, there is a link in the navigation bar now under watched threads called unread threads. This menu on a phone would likely appear from the left of the screen after clicking the hamburger (3 horizontal lines) icon.

AFF wants to send me push notifications - I have clicked 3 times on 'never ask me again' on 3 separate log ins :p

Thanks,

That works for me for new threads, but not for "watched threads"; us there a way to achieve it on watched threads as well.

Is there a way to see threads that have been created since you last logged in. I like the option of reading your watched threads. I find the colour of your watched threads a little pale and it's not as easy to see as it was before.

Also people are talking about changing colours but I can't work out how to do that.

I am unsure if this is saved per browser state in cookies or as a preference, but you can turn off push notifications in your User CP that may stop the prompt. Otherwise, you may have to look into your browser settings.
I think I've got it happening now.
I was going to reply, as it's not so straight forward, but the "Unread threads" link above takes you to 'unread watched threads', while "Watched threads" takes you to all 'watched threads' regardless of read status.

Checking.

You need to be using the default AFF Style and not Classic (I can see from your preferences you are using Classic).

When using the default style there is a customise toggle that appears next to the alerts icon at the top of the page. This allows you to change a few colours on the page such as category background colours. Not all colours mind you.

I would really like to see the ‘Agree’ button return. ‘Like’ just doesn’t have the same meaning, but often it’s not worth posting just to indicate agreement with, or support of, somebody else’s post. ‘Agree’ can particularly add a lot of weight to someone’s answer to a question - especially one from a newby, I think.

The ‘Agree’ indicator can say so much, so simply. Its omission is seriously retrograde IMHO.

‘Funny’ was good, but less important; similarly ‘Hugs’ was nice but less important again.

scratch that. on mobile there's improvement, but on desktop, avatars are still low quality, even though a high-res photo is uploaded.
I believe this might come down to the resolution of your screen or if you have what they term a 'retina' display by some manufacturers. Certainly, I have found an improvement on mobile (iPhone Xs) and computer (Mac mini connected to a standard HD monitor – 1920x1080).

I recall previously, under 1.5 I found your avatar incredibly blurry. But it's sharp as a tack now. Don't forget we do use a CDN, so you may be seeing an older upload of yours or others avatars?

In the previous version it was an addon, something we had to find, and buy, and test. The developer has not ported the addon to the new version of Xenforo so our hands were tied. The new reaction system (as it is called) will provide a lot more flexibility going forward so that we can add such 'reactions' – however, I'm sure you can 'agree' that system stability trumps the ability to easily agree with a post at this stage.

To liken this to an airline, it would be like choosing safety or IFE. We've chosen safety, but have a list of things we want to bring online as soon as we can. It is unfortunately not as easy as the work I did over the weekend. As soon as I can bring you IFE, I shall ;)

For the most part I don't mind the changes, I usually visit site from my laptop or samsung 10' android tablet, using chrome on both,

However on Community page I tend to use the "Recent Posts" Frame on the right hand side to keep up to date with newer threads. The problem is the Calendar is now on top of the recent posts frame, and your cant scroll down to recent posts box until you have scrolled through the entirety of the expanded forum descriptions on the left. It is way more scrolling than previously, in fact I assume it wasn't working on my tablet until I got into office today and saw same behaviour on my laptop.

So Id like to see the forums collapsed to their headings, so I can scroll faster or have the ability to remove the calendar or collapse it (or put it underneath recent posts), so I can access the recents posts box faster.

This feature worked very briefly in the past, but it was an addon and when it broke it trapped a few people who then couldn't ever re-expand the categories they had collapsed.

You can limit the amount of scrolling by turning on "grid view" from the toggle in the top right next to alerts.
