Feet and shoes on Bulkhead?

But this isn't at one's home. You can do whatever you want in your own home. This is public transport. A little civic-mindedness and consideration for the next passenger who will have to take that seat wouldn't be out of place in modern society.

It's all around us!!:shock:...that simple word.. 'public' ..preceding words like 'transport', 'parks', 'buildings', 'spaces', 'toilets' etc... seems to be interpreted by some as, 'it's not my property/i'll do what I damn well please'.. 'consideration' for those around, or those using next, doesn't even enter some peoples thoughts

That's why I carry anti-bacterial wipes whenever I travel, and especially on aircraft. I wipe down all surfaces my hands are likely to get in contact with.

You are wasting your time with this practice. Just wash your hands or clean them with wipes before you eat, you cannot clean every surface you may come into contact with when traveling.

I'm amazed people get so upset about things like this.

Unscientific fear of "germs" is based on lack of scientific knowledge. Don't these people understand that you are just as likely, or in fact more likely, to pick up a gastro virus by touching the arm rest, the overhead locker or the tray than a bulkhead where someone rested their feet.
You are not going to get traveller's diarrhoea by sitting somewhere where someone rested their feet on the bulkhead

As you can see int the pic het feet also covered the pocket containing the iPad and flight info. She had her feet up while both wearing the sox and at time shoes. She could have stepped on or in anything on the way to the airport. The next pax would have then reached into the the storage pocket and came into contact with it.

I've seen this many times, particularly on long haul flights where people put their feet up for extra comfort, usually just with socks on. No big deal, never construed this as arrogance just practicality. And as for hygiene, take a trip to the bathroom (on most carriers) towards the end of the longhaul and you'll know about hygiene issues (blood stained tissues blockings sinks, unflushed toilets etc etc).

If I put my feet up, it doesn't damage the plane, it doesn't affect anyone else, and if you want to clutch your pearls and shriek about manners, go right ahead. I'll be sitting in my bulkhead seat with my feet up, enjoying a glass of champagne from a class I probably didn't pay for, while rolling my eyes at people who are hysterical about germs and think someone died and made them the manners police!

Of much greater concern to me is the number of "Gentlemen" who avail themselves of the facilities in the QC in Adelaide or the J Lounge in MEL and don't wash their hands before exiting, thus potentially contaminating the door handle I'm compelled to use immediately after.

Yep, they are doing it just to show arrogance and to show you (and yes I do mean you) they are more important than you. Only an ego-centrist would seek to "transfer" such rationale to others. Selfishness is an argument most often made by those who demonstrate a fair bit of it themselves.

Frankly I think the opposite is true, they are doing it to be comfortable and probably aren't even aware of what others might think. And most of the observors probably dont care much either.

Row 1 in international config QF763 I have put my be-socked feet on that bulkhead wall many times as have thousands before me and after me. But I can assure you that my socks would be cleaner than that wall is! And speaking of recline, I go all the way as soon as the seatbelt light turns off until it's time to land.

Obviously you're oblivious to people having their tongue firmly planted in their cheek - the glass of champagne was a wind up mate - it's just another one of those things, like reclining and apparently feet on bulkheads, that people round here get their knickers in a twist about.

I don't generally drink on board, and I certainly couldn't care less about people looking at me. The idea is so ridiculous I had to take the p*ss.

That's what happens when sharing a plane with other people, who are all different.
The best thing to do is suck it up for a few hours and then move on with your life.
For those who really can't fly with people who recline/ put up their feet/ snore/ shout/ smell/ use upper class toilet or bring their kinds who do all the above, the solution is simple - buy or lease your own plane and create your own utopia onboard

While this type of behaviour is uncouth, my main concern is a 60 yo wearing sneakers. As for the leg stretching, there may be a medical reason.
