FF Gold - Worth it?

;) this is absolutely correct. Sometimes I'd just leave them on the table for any interested parties if I didn't manage to use them all.

We did that last time we were there too - we had fairly quick connections in most cases, and they were giving us 2 vouchers each on entry (at both DFW and MIA) so we gave the remaining vouchers to some of the mis-fortunate low tier AAdmirals guests who were only given one voucher.

You mean access to the Qantas Club? You only get access to Business Lounges domestically if you're platinum, I believe.

Ahh yes QP domestically unless travelling J or a WP FF.
Business lounge if travelling from the Intl termainal

If flying BA, you also get to pre-select seats which is very good esp. if flying Y.

There's actually a drink chit thread over on FT about this. It's customary to hide them in locations in the lounge, then post where they are, for other non-QF travellers. The joy of FF camaraderie :)

:p I've read about this before somewhere on AFF. I am not an FT member I am afraid. AFF consumes a bit of my procrasticating time already

This question gets asked quite a lot. Is the advice provided based on the following criteria?

- If you are already Gold status then it is worth it?
- If you do not already have status then it is not worth it?

Personally, if only 20 SCs short then I would spend the money to get Gold status.

Also if I am short by 20 status credits - what do you think the likelihood will be of Qantas granting me gold anyway?
Qantas is not likely to grant you status early if you are not already on that status level.

If you are Gold and have 1395 SC then QF wil not give you Platinum status. Similarly if you are Silver and have 695 SCs then QF will not give you Gold status . You need to earn the required amount of SCs to jump up a level.

QF granted me qualification to a tier with 10 points less than the required SCs.

My mate got Silver as well when falling 5 sc's short.
Is this to re-qualify for an existing level? But then again Silver status does not offer as much as Gold or Platinum status.

Its good to hear that QF has given a member Silver status when they just fall short of qualification, I suppose it says something about their perceived value of the silver tier and we will probably hear more of it happening now that the benefits have been diluted.

No, it was to qualify for the first time, not to requalify.

I have come across few anecdotes of QFFers being elevated to PS or SG before when slightly short on SC's but I have never come across this for WP.

There has been the rare post of WP being directly granted; but these appeared to be more in line with gaining significant business.

Yes, because BA will actually recognise you (unlike OW Ruby)
