In the spirit of things, why not have it in a lounge and call it a 'do.

Unless the aim is to get newbies along, which creates other problems..

Could I suggest a couple of 'ground' rules?

1. Each participant to takes their own responsibility for the information that they takeaway from the event.

2. Participants can only speak from first person experiences. No hearsay. Only personal direct experiences are relevant in this setting.

3. Participants can no give advice to other participants. It's up to a participant to see the benefit of a particular strategy for their situation.

If people just speak about their personal experiences and other people choose to adopt that method, it removes the opportunity for tension.

4. Non-judgemental. People can only speak from their personal experience....not an opinion.

I've been involved in an official industry forum around Australia with similar goals to Cruiser's ideals. People generally give freely as long as they aren't judged or criticised. What works for one person may or may not work for others.

These are just my thoughts.

Alby pretty close to the mark - just a couple more observations if I can.

Whilst I did use the AFF Forum to float this idea - I can't really see how AFF can in anyway be officially involved.

My thoughts were simply a loose gathering of like minded people - nothing official / nothing sinister - just a forum for expression of experiences which contributors do not want to put out their for entire world to see or hear.

I apologise if what I am proposing might appear exclusive to many - I don't know how to get around that one.

I'm struggling with the exclusive aspect of this. The suggestion is to get "like minded" people together to share their experiences. Wouldn't like minded people chasing points already be on top of most opportunities? As such is there going to be much useful information sharing? ie "I do this" - "yeah we've done that as well".

Oops I was interrupted in writing this post, sort of lost my thoughts. Maybe I just wonder if it risks becoming a self affirming love it, that isn't very effective?

In asking that I'm not pooh poohing the idea, just mentioning a possible risk. But I would like to see something that is a learning opportunity to bring others up to speed with how to earn, etc. effectively.

I'm all for people sharing stuff privately, if that is their wish (and I'm certain it already goes on all the time via PM and other private communication). I understand that certain 'tricks of the trade', if made public on a forum such as AFF may quickly become extinct for one reason or another so have no issue if people do not wish to share them on that basis.

But I feel a little uneasy when AFF (I note the word 'community' in the URL I'm looking at) is potentially used as a vehicle for organising 'private' functions/forums (and this is not the first thread to venture close to that territory recently) which may exclude members on some sort of arbitrary basis. I might add it does not bother me if I am 'in' or 'out' in a given situation, I'm happy just to learn and share what I can via the public fora here. I doubt I have any 'tricks' that would not be widely known on AFF. But it is up to those who own and administer the site to decide what is allowable and what is not.

To the point at hand, I'm unsure how you could get say 15 or 20 people together to share their unique earning methods, without knowing prior to the occasion what they are. All 15 or 20 could potentially be the same! But good luck with the idea anyway!

Good points. But I am still curious about the knowledge of other AFFrs I think if all members are invited your concerns could be addressed. Some of us are shy, but active, and might have things to share or learn with other members. If all are invited to participate, I can't see any Probs with the suggestion
