G'day all,
I hail from BNE, travel in and out of POM and SE Asia frequently for work, hoping to maximise my points and status earning using this site. Excellent trove of info so far, immediately signed up for Gold membership.

Thanks for all the info.

Welcome to AFF Johncitizen, there's an immense amount of useful information here.

Yes, I agree. unfortunately most of my flights are booked with Air Niugini Economy via a corporate booking company. It code shares Qantas, but they book me on the PX code not the QF so I only get a dismal amount of FF points (around 1,100 per flight) and no SC. I also usually have to send my boarding pass to qantas in Melbourne to redeem the points that don't come through. I've got high hopes for the future however.

And you are not able to strike a deal with them to book the Qantas codeshare?

And you are not able to strike a deal with them to book the Qantas codeshare?

My very last flight over I was able to get them to put the code share and my FF number on the boarding pass, the flights from POM-BNE I'm not able to, Air Niuguni staff were not helpful at all, I will continue to try every flight. If my boarding pass has just the PX code and no FF stated, then I have to mail my boarding pass to the Qantas office in Melbourne to have the points added (but no status credits).

I will continue to try, but economy from POM to BNE only nets 20 SC, resulting in 320 SC total for my year of flying on my current roster, unable to upgrade flights as they are booked through a corporate travel agent and rarely ever show in my upcoming flights. I will continue to try fly SC runs on my time off for training courses and holidays where possible.

Hi johncitizen,

Try to contact the corporate travel agent to arrange for future flights to carry your FF details.
I have managed to do that (it varies from client to client and corporate agent to corporate agent) and we even had one agent happy to book flights anywhere deducting the cost of the flight home.

Welcome John,

I would definitely keep trying with the people doing your bookings. Having a look at random dates, the PX and QF fares are comparable, so there would often not be any financial penalty for using QF. In any case, your booking should ALWAYS carry your FF details. But if the person booking the flights is forgetting that, then maybe they aren't quite clued on enough to think about QF either... could just be a case of try a different consultant.

There are also more flexible ways of getting the desired outcome like russel suggests. We've certainly been creative with clients before to get what the pax wants within the company rules :-)

Thanks for the advice everyone, I emailed them yesterday about adding my FF number to their database. Still waiting on a response.

I know another member that does FIFO to PNG.

If you like I'll send him a PM.....who knows - you might even work at the same place!

Welcome to AFF johncitizen

It can be a real pain if your compant books you on the Air Niugini flights with a PX flight number... ours used to do this but now only use QF flight numbers. I also go POM-CNS-BNE which gives me 40 s/c rather than the 20 on the direct flights. Try to tell your company to use these flights as the timings are better?

I work a 4/4 and I gather your roster must be a 2/2? Might also be good to have a read of your company's travel policy?
