Hi all,

Comparing prices for Business class travel from Melbourne to Nadi next April, I am bemused at the apparent difference in prices quoted by each airline for what I would think are effectively the same seats, operated by Fiji Airways. Return flights on QF in business are $1,871, on Fiji Airways are $1,752. So my question is why the difference?? Is this a rip off by Qantas?

I would say that is not much of a fare difference (well under 10%)

AFAIK depends on the codeshare type..
If shared seats, sometimes the carrier won't make available the cheapest bucket.
If exclusive seats, then QF may have already sold out of the cheapest bucket as well.

Unless QF/FJ have ACCC approval to co-ordinate fares on the route, may also be illegal to have the same fare.

Hi
I've noticed this too, strange when it's the same plane, although occasionally Q is cheaper.

Do you get QF status credits if booked under an FJ flight number?

If you have Gold or Platinum it can sometimes be worth it to pay the extra 10pc for double points on the QF code

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Hmm. So basically, you should book on the QF code if you have QF status. Otherwise, booking on the FJ code is better (same benefits at a lower price). Is that about right?

I haven't looked into the earning differences, but essentially the gist of things.

I think taking the QF code is always preferable ;)
