Happy to contribute with $100.

If you post or PM the bank account details I'll complete the transaction....never used facebook & probably never will.

Nice job & best wishes to all involved.

Have now spoilt my "you'll never see me on FB"......good causes will do that kind of thing. Money transferred using the link - hope your are having some me time......on your holiday!

To make this easier we Jakplus1 (Karen) has created a Facebook page (see post #18 above) where donations can be made online via PayPal or direct to her bank account. We are handling all the donations ourselves and I will personally cover all PayPal costs.

I'm sending out PMs to people today to help get some of the cash flowing. As posted above we have already spent $FJ2682.28 ($A1510.99) and will purchase more on Thursday.

Hi Bill,
$100 donation sent this morning.
Thanks for your efforts to help these unfortunate people.
Cheers
N'oz

I just donated a bit of money to Karen this morning.

The total number of friends this morning.

Friends (73)

I sent a bit more money than that, as I like round numbers.

A great big thank you to everyone who donated.

Most money has been received and we are just chasing up the remainder so should have a confirmed total sometime tomorrow.

Sue and I are driving back to Nadi tomorrow and hope to have most things sorted for when Karen (Jakplus1) and Cameron arrive and fly out on Thursday. The PayPal fees came to $18.18 which I paid in addition to my donation.

We have been lucky that we have received nearly all our goods at wholesale or better prices.

Hi Bill.

I have transferred the $1,000 via EFT so no commission!!

Well done to you and your family for helping out.

Boss

Karen posted this on the Help Fiji Facebook page so I'm adding it here as well.

Thank you everyone for helping with the fundraiser - we are back in Nadi and will be purchasing goods tomorrow. The total raised was $AUD2790 or approx $FJ5150, which can do an amazing amount of good. I will be closing the fundraiser now as we are just about to return to Australia. Thank you again!

The revised total will be $AUD2840 or approx $FJ5240.

Karen is currently en-route to Oz and we follow in Saturday night.

Sue and I are going out tomorrow to buy the last items which will probably be mainly water as the drinking water is still polluted. Apparently the water can be treated but is not very palatable.

The other interesting twist to the story is that as of 5 hours ago Karen has received an email from WIN News Gippsland wanting to do a story about our little fundraiser! :)

Once again, thanks everyone who has helped.

Who knows, maybe one day we'll have an AFF gathering in NAN as part of an AFF NAN run where we can take advantage of the J baggage allowance and take over a whole heap of stuff, as well as put in some elbow grease. The idea has legs, I reckon. But for now, congratulations, straitman.

The other interesting twist to the story is that as of 5 hours ago Karen has received an email from WIN News Gippsland wanting to do a story about our little fundraiser! :)

Perhaps Aus Business Traveller had a an article where a 'source' was quoted as being involved with a fundraiser for a Fijian village and WIN got a hold of it!!

Nice concept, helpful outcome. Concrats to Bill and family for the motivation to do it!

straitman, you have a PM.

Sorry I'm late to the party, I have limited access to internet/FB/AFF in China.
