Amazing trip report, I'd love to go for a road trip like this.

Your photos are really something... Love it!

I don't want to hijack this thread any further but will make two quick points:

- Agree not being able to see the Tuolomne Meadows area easily is a bit of a drawback but still plenty of fantastic and more famous attractions in Yosemite Valley with Glaciar Pt still being quite easily accessible via the Four Mile Trail if you want to hike.

- Vegas to Yosemite Valley via the Big Oak Flat Road entrance takes only 1hr more than via Tioga Pass. Yes you miss out on Death Valley and some other attractions in the eastern Sierras but in pure time it's not much longer.

I think you're confused, there is no access to yosemite from the East when the snow is still thick. Tiogo pass from Mammoth (Lee Vining) is the only access.

I didn't say there was any other access from the east. Not sure where you got that one from to be honest. :S

Thanks for the great TR, really enjoyed it. In 2010 we hired an RV from Vegas and drove to the South Rim of Grand Canyon, across to Page (which we also loved!), accessed the Slot Canyons there, then to Monument Valley for 2 nights - which I highly recommend. Then travelled to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks via Moab, and finally Bryce and Zion national parks. The Grand Canyon wasn't even the highlight. Your TR took me back there - thanks again!

Great info - thanks

I did a driving round trip from LV as far as Bryce - I thought Bryce and Zion much more interesting than Grand Canyon although that was fantastic.

DO NOT EVER STAY at Cameron https://www.camerontradingpost.com/ - food is revolting, toilet overflowed in my room AND it's an Indian reservation so no alcohol (luckily I had some in the car)

Also enjoyed Kanab (nice little town) and Springdale in the middle of Zion

Interesting trip report with nice photos.

Road trip visiting small town USA would be interesting. I know I wouldn't be able to drive these distances days on end. Coach tour?
