Finnair but not Funnair - humph!

It’s now more than that for a single trans-atlantic!

One of the few benefits of QF silver (OWR) is the ability to select seats for free on BA 7 days out. Have been lucky so far to always snag the bulkhead window (ying-yang configuration).

I would consider paying those prices!
Well, another good reason to get QF LTG (or equivalent). Free seat selection from time of booking.

Oddly enough I went into manage my seats in a different part of Finnair's website and could actually choose a window seat. It shows me this layout:
So I chose 3L as you can see. No charge pops up and I could move on to another screen. However, when I look in MMB it shows me this:
That horizontal seat selection screen is the right one to use. It's in the MMB Travel Extras part. the outcome should then come up as confirmed.
AY customer service chat is really effective. I've booked and changed trips via chat in late Australian evenings and it works well with AY. oy umay want to check with them if the seats stay in a pending status.

As a side note, it looked like the PE seats were available to me so I went and after these screen captures went to select one. I'm on a Y flex fare but my selection sticks and shows also in the QF app. If this holds, quite an unbelievable fluke which I'll exploit whenever possible.

Thanks for the help. The seat I selected is showing up in my QFF MMB, but it still shows as pending on AY's MMB. I tried contacting AY's support office by online chat last night and after 2 hours I gave up. I started off as 8th in the queue and sat on 4 for over an hour so I gave up - I assume they only have one person on at a time and that that person only answers one query at a time. Not very productive! And my query really isn't that important so I'll let it go and see what happens closer the time. (It's a year a - sp much could change before then!)

Unless you're connecting to a flight in the Schengen terminal. That lounge is an absolute zoo- last year, I twice encountered a single meal option which was "Pasta with creamy cod and salmon" (yuck, the whole lounge stank like rotten fish) and only seating available were right across the VERY smelly toilets. Totally under-sized this place. Oh- and stale Finnish beer doesn't help either!

The ex-Schengen lounge is indeed a totally different story, admittedly very nice, love the posh but rather simple Scandinavic design!

The AY Schengen lounge in HEL is a nice one but undersized compared to the current volume of users at peak times. Luckily they are relocating to a larger space sometime in H2/2024, if the chatter in the interwebs holds true.

That "Pasta with creamy cod and salmon" sounds like one of the typical dishes over that part of the world. It can be tasty but, of course, not to everyone's taste, perhaps. Essentially, you are looking at pasta carbonara with the meat replaced by fish.

I'm a lowly Bronze travelling on a J reward (so, U class). Which means (according to their website) I can't book a window seat unless I pay for it.
Same status here and we’ve been able to select seats, free of charge, including window seats on J QF classic reward AY flights booked from SIN to Europe .for April 2025. Though currently the SIN-HEL leg is seats are showing as pending.
