First AAward booking... Is it always that easy?

Hi.

just got a new computer and lost all my favourites... of which how to pay via the US call centre with an Aussie card was one of them.

Can someone please report the latest link here?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Hoping someone can shed some light on this.

Just called AA (US number) trying to book EY award Europe to Aus.

Was told it must be booked as two awards for a total of 75k points.

Is this correct or should I be calling back to speak with another agent.

Thanks!

I would start on page 1 of this thread. These are the most up to date comments but prepare for most possibilities and the fact that not all assistants are aware of current policy. At worst you will finish up with a charge of $A80 to use your Aussie CC.

i have read that but it's not what I'm after. There was a link to a step-by-step guide including advice to give to the agent about what to enter into each box of the address.

If booking online -
Insert your Suburb and P/code in the "Address 2" line and leave the city and Zipcode fields blank.
(Oh and use Aussie CC).

If booking by phone -
When the agent asks - "yes ma'am it's a US CC."
Use the El Segundo method for the billing address.

Whilst some have had success both online and over the phone by simply adding a Zero (to make your Postcode 5 digits) - it seems to be unreliable and I have had it fail both online and over the phone.

Is this still possible? The city field seems to be coming up with a * and the form won't go through with it blank.

Hmmm.

Last one I did was 2 weeks ago - worked fine.

It's possible with the website revamp that it's changed......

Used to be right but not since the QF/EK tie up.
Is there any reason you want EY.
You can book online and an F award is only 80K miles.if you look at the 331 day mark you can often pick up one on QF2 or QF10.
Closer in it is often BA F to PVG,NRT,BKK and QF J from there.
J awards are 60K and often 1 on QF6 from FRA but you can be offered combinations including BA,AY or QF.
Y awards are 45K and even 3-4 months out they are showing up on QF2 or QF10.

Possibly. Seems to have worked by entering all of that info (City, State, Postcode) into the City field rather than "Address Line 2" and leaving ZIP blank. The other quirk of the disappearing reservation didn't help matters, but at least this method seemed to generate a positive result. :)

I have found that if I:

1/ place the booking in hold through AA.com;
2/ Call up to make any amendments, remove my AAdvantage number (to then replace with QF number) and whatever other changes;
3/ Finalise the booking online

Then it shows up in my bookings list.

Bookings finalized over the phone sometimes but usually not.

And I haven done any since the website revamp so Serfty's advice may be most current.
