Hi everyone,

Can anyone confirm that in the first 4 or so seats in economy (rows 3 - 6) I believe have slightly extra legroom? I've just ticked over from silver to Gold and finally had the chance of sitting in row 4 instead of row 8 and beyond and noticed there is definitely more legroom than further back in the plane. Was on a new BSI B738.

One of the perks of being able to select a seat in rows 8 - 3 as a higher status PAX?

Hello, first row of economy usually had extra legroom, row 4 for 737 and row 23 for wide bodies.

Enjoy the status, only WP1 and CL can choose first row as soon as ticket is booked, as a vanilla WP i have to wait until t-80.

Row 3 (on a 738) has heaps of legroom - way more than most economy seats (possibly more than business). Unsure about rows 4 to 6 though. I would have thought they were standard economy pitch, but maybe there is a variance.

Row 3 on Virgin certainly has more leg room, it seems even more than row 4 on Qantas. I have travelled on the BSI planes as well as the refurbished planes to me there doesn't seem to be any greater seat pitch in rows 4 or 5. To really know for sure would be best to measure the seat pitch.

Had 4A on a new QF 737 thisweek - BNE to MEL - not sure what type of 737it was but it had individual screens. This tellytubby can tell you it definately had more leg room

That is true. However the OP posted this question in the Virgin discussion board so my assumption was they were asking about Virgin aircraft. As Virgin and Qantas have different seat layouts what you find on one carrier will not always follow to another carrier.

Pretty sure that things are a bit tighter if you are behind the wings compared to whether you are in front of the wings.

Row 3 on VA's 738 and E190 aircraft definitely has much more legroom.

Row 3 on DJ of course has the most room, but rows 4-6 I think have about an inch or so more as well. Before the reconfiguration to add business, it was the seats in the first few rows on the left side of some of their aircraft that had more room, due to no bulkhead at the front and slightly staggered seating up to the exit, but that has changed now as all the rows are aligned.
