First Qantas A220 revealed

The exterior plays a big role as well. A clean, well maintained paint job lends to the overall perception.

i.e. some of those retiring JAL 77W's look like new builds compared to say TG and the older SQ birds.
The speed taped wings always causes alarms for passengers.

Received an email yesterday of schedule changes to flights we have to/from Melbourne later in the year. 'So you can experience our new A220' or something like that. Looking forward to it. J down and Y back.
We had the reverse. Booked SYD-LST (return) during the Sale. SYD-LST already subbed for an E190 four months out.

I agree with @TheInsider here. My friend and his family most certainly had no clue they were on a VA 737M8 and I didn't exactly point it out to them in case they had fears from the news. I noticed only because I looked out the window and there was a huge engine in my face.

Clean fancy new (modern) and functioning interiors has a lot more effect on the perceptions than actual age of planes. Think about a house, if you fully renovated it, its much harder to tell how old the house is from the interior.

Agree, several friends equate planes to one aisle or two aisles. Those are the two types of planes flying in AU.

Just had a schedule change for my MEL-LST flights in September. A220 swapped out for E190.

Looks like the A220 has been almost completely removed from the route starting in April, only operating once a week. Alliance and Sunstate picking up the slack with E190 and Q400.

Yep, my return flight LST-SYD also changed today.

Any idea where they've moved to?

That was my initial thought (with the crewing challenges) but I wouldn't be surprised if they're being swung onto longer / thin routes?
Looks like they've beefed up A220 frequency on MEL-BNE. Looking at June, as many as 6-7 flights scheduled on the A220 depending on the day of the week.
