Like you need to expand on how it makes any sense at all to put in new seat back IFE on the 767's?

LOL I have said it before, I could care less how they fund it and AJ's bonus would probably be a good place to start. BTW Millions?

The quoted cost of the current 767 upgrades apparently is $20 million. What you are suggesting, with embedded cabling and power, would certainly add more than another 5%. So yes, "millions".

While a web address makes things very cross platform, ultimately I'd like to see an app as it'll look nicer, though not sure if it has any benefits over Safari.

Speaking from conjecture without the experience, the only advantage is possibly stability as you can make the video platform integrated into the app rather than using app calls or plugins.

That said, I'd be going for platform independence over the app as long as the performance is not highly compromised, and especially so if the app would not offer anything over and above what the browser would allow. Given most people use Apple (iOS) devices, and the device used itself is also an iOS device, there are many - both here and "on the street" - who would not appreciate why the browser is used over the app.

really. sales wise think Anrdroid is winning on mobile devices, Windows still wins on PCs/Laptops

my only idevice is an iPod Nano v2, and thats not exactly iOS

almost a religious debate now iOS vs Android vs Windows

Ho Hum... Yawn

Either Android or iOS would be a "safe" choice, and they spur each other on with competition which is a good thing. Windows, especially anything to do with Win 8, would be "Courageous" in Humphrey Appleby speak.

I think the reference was to tablet devices which I think iOS still "wins". Completely agree that Android have more devices in total around but the majority of them are a diverse mix of smart phones.

According to Aust. Bus. Traveller all those 767 kept will be refurbished by March 2013 this must mean the SYD/HNL/SYd will see them too?.

If QANTAS has half a mind they'll put the refurbs on the SYD-HNL route first considering they are the longest of the 767 routes. Hopefully happening before or on 25 Nov :)

Well, every statement about the refurbs does talk about being for the domestic product. There really hasn't been much guidance on what is happening with the international fleet!

NNNOOOO!!!! DON'T SAY THAT!!!
Although wouldn't mind the referb doing the 767 run QF925 CNS-SYD either.

As the article says Qantas will refresh 16 of the 19 Boeing 767s in its fleet, with the other three jets being retired from service. This to me means SYD/HNL to be a refurbed 767.

How QA can treat customers on a long haul to this old worn out plane is a joke, so much for Mr. Joyce and his "world class airline", I'll bet he not only hasn't sat in it but not seen it either.

And where is QA spokesman and QFF member Red Roo when we want him?.

Don't believe everything you read, check with the source, for instance QF have mentioned they would refurbish 16 767s, they have 22.

Well that source says refresh 16 of the 19 Boeing 767s "in its fleet", you now say its not 19 but 22 mmm. If so looks like I'll be back on the old 767 clunker next March SYD/HNL.

To put another spanner in the works the QANTAS website has 23 767s listed...

Which ones are the international birds?

Mmmm 19 + 4.... that would fit for domestic being refreshed only.

The problem is that they have said 7 will be retired. If that includes the international, then that would need something to replace it.

Issue is that we don't know which 7 are going. If it all the ex-BA birds, then yes, the international is getting a refresh. It's just that no-one at Qantas has specifically said which aircraft are going.
