I'm not sure why they did it that way but it isn't fake leather.
judging by the pic you posted..the leather headrest doesnt require those disposable headrest covers anymore..which usually end up on the floor/stuck to your hair/etc...leather headrests just need a wipe with a sanitised cloth by the cleaning crew...more hygenic/more cost effective/easier/faster/less waste/less landfill!!

The third refreshed 767 entered service today VH-OGI Port Augusta. supposedly 3 more by xmas but no breakdown ig they are INT/DOM config acraft

OGR is already done, so there is no difference or preference it seems between int or Dom config.

I wonder if once they are in play whether I might switch to 2nd row of whY so I have somewhere to stow my iPad...

i rarely bother trying for the front row of whY on the MEL syd leg.. prefer a couple of rows back.

Where are the refurbs being done? Havent seen any at AVV so assume it's not there.

BNE? MNL? other?

I flew on one of these on Tuesday. Leather headrests with the iPad 'hanger' built in the back of the seat in front. Not much else I could see. Had a quick look around the iPad and seemed to have a reasonable selection of entertainment. Word of advice with seat selection, if you choose an exit row, there's nowhere to hang the iPad so it has to go on your tray table or as the pax opposite me did, held it the whole flight.

So what refurbishment has been done in J class on international config aircraft? New upholstery on 20 year old Dreamtime (Mk1) seats?

Yes - if you are replacing seats then you end up with certification issues. So the solution is the same for both the domestic and international birds.

Neither the plane or the seat is 20 years old, Dreamtime were introduced June 98, a year after OGR came into the fleet.

Common don't let facts get in the way. Just like those who complain that Qantas doesn't have any new planes, and that the A330's are rickety old buckets of poop.

You are absolutely right. I was exaggerating for effect. Now let me ask, what other carrier with pretensions of being one of the worlds leading airlines is still offering a long-haul product like this heading into 2013? Photos: Boeing 767-338/ER Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net
Yep that's the seat, flew on a very similar one just a few weeks ago.

Emirates? Don't they have a J product with 42-44 inches of pitch an loop based IFE?.
