Experienced refurb B767 Darwin to Brisbane 25 Jan. Only issue I had was the maximum volume from the IPad was insufficient to hear the movies properly. I tried three different movies and two headsets. I don't think my hearing is going as SWMBO had similar issues.

Had 1 of the recon 767s from Mel last week . I was pretty impressed with the tidy up.new side walls covering.seats/carpets looked great. The Ipad was fantastic.A bit fiddly at first but having seen other comments previously I had my iPod earphones with me.
Excellent quality pic vs seatback. To top it off had a very nice Salmon dish as well (upgraded using points). Very pleasant way to finish a weekend at the tennis.

The refurb makes the old birds marginally better than they were but it really is just putting lipstick on a....bird?

The new side walls are pointless as the old tarnished-yellow-from-age plastic is still everywhere to be seen in all its glory so what is the point?

And J class is now basically JQ Starclass complete with sweaty leather seats;

The iPads were not working on the flights I've been on (2) so I hope my journey next week on QF3 breaks this streak!

The Joyce Jestarisation of Qantas continues.

Broken record...

For the length of the flights that the 767's are used on, the upgrade was a smart move, especially with the life left with them.

You mean the 10 hours to HNL?

Sweaty leather seats, don't recall being hot once in air usually cold if anything.

Are these refurbed 767's on SYD/HNL run as yet?.

Please report back as we (4 of us) going HNL in Y March next.

Will do. Also interested in seeing what overhead luggage bins they use...surely not the same tiny ones used on the Dom legs

QF3 - the worst joke in aviation history.

At least it will eventually go A330 once they take delivery of more birds...

I swore I'd never fly QF3 again after my 2010 experience yet here I am again - sucker for punishment.

The movies on my iPad plus Q streaming, no babies and a good crew should help me over the line!

And what birds are they?

I do find it funny people forget that both LH and UA have had their jumbos without AVOD on longer flights and this was up until recently as well.

I don't think there are any differences with the 767 overhead bins nor were the part of the refresh

In same boat. My iPad hardly leaves my side when travelling.

Seats Feb/March SYD/HNL showing on Expert Flyer are only about 30% full, plenty of seat choices, can see us grabbing a centre row each once on board, if armrests in 767 can be lifted up?.

Reason these are so empty might be the new HWA flights out of BNE, much better prices (friends paid $1080 QF were $1400) plus newer aircraft out of SYD, QF are going to have to lift their game as these 767 refurbs just don't cut it.

Just for clarity are you saying the bins are not part of the refresh? Not sure if I inferred that the int'l 767s were not part of the refresh.

I do find it bizarre that they are refreshing the bins on the 738s which were fine (you can fit a standard size carryon end on in them) and not the bins on the 763 which are woeful.

It's not bizarre. It's a trial of a third party retrofit of a bin system designed for 737 and 757 aircraft.

The 738's are going to be around a lot longer than the 767's so they are going to get better return. Also he 738's new bins, which is a trial of one aircraft at this stage BTW not a full fleet refresh, the capacity increases by around 33% I beleive.
