I flew one the other day that has had no refurb at all - how many of these are there?

Does not help that MEL went down to one runway so we sat on the Tarmac for 50mins waiting for a take off slot - haven't been on a 2hr MEL-SYD for a while....

Were you on one of the ex-BA 767?

There are currently 4 763s that have not been refurbished. 3 ex-BA birds (that are due to be retired by September/October) and 1 original QF bird (VH-OGP that is due to go soon).

Does it make sense to complete a full refit of the 767's considering the life left in them?

Considering that, it is a fairly good compromise I feel

The life left in them is 3 years or so. Don't think think they would make their money back in that time. Now if they kept them another 12 years then yes, but I have no doubt if they did that people would still complain about the 'old' Qantas fleet.

I disagree. The iPad is the cheapest way for QF to improve its mediocre overhead IFE (projectors and all) offering previously found on these birds. There is no point refitting them with fancy new seats with AVOD when they are due to be retired soon.

Would it be better to do nothing at all with them?

Point taken chaps. I wasn't aware of their short remaining life.

The Q-streaming isn't started until after the seatbelt sign is off and is switched off well before landing, meaning I couldn't even get through a 45 minute programme today between SYD and BNE. Also the headphones supplied are absolutely terrible and because of where the iPad is, end up getting tangled up during meal service.

Agree with the limited time when we can actually use the iPad Q streaming, on a SYD-MEL/BNE sector lucky if you get access for half the flying time. Still half glass full is better than an empty glass.

On the headphones part, which smartphones, MP3 players and other gadgets, that have headphones as an accessory, just byo.
