Hi All!

My colleague put me onto this forum, and I am quite happy so far - but a very steep learning curve. I am QF WP and unluckily work somewhere with a draconian travel policy.. only economy and cheapest possible! Anyway I am about to set off on my first trip since joining and I would really appreciate any advice or tips on what I should do to make this as comfortable as possible.

I am going:

Monday 14/1/13 QF 517 BNE - SYD dep 09.25
Monday 14/1/13 QF 23 SYD - BKK dep 14.15
Singapore airlines from BKK to SIN
Wednesday 16/1/13 QF52 SIN - BNE dep 21.30

any advice appreciated!

The first thing I do is make seat selections well in advance. If unfamiliar with the aircraft layout, use Seatguru or similar to help pick seats that suit you.

yes, seat selection. Very important. As a WP you should have a good choice...albeit getting a bit late in the day
Also if you aren't already familiar with the Qantas first lounge in Sydney you should become so.
Finally there's nothing wrong with using your hard earned points to upgrade the international economy flight(s). IF you have points with that airline and you are in a booking class that allows upgrades.
Good luck. Have a good trip. I am relatively new here also and happy to be corrected on any of the above suggestions
Welcome to the mad house...err sorry AFF

And at T-80 hours (i.e. 80 hours before take off) review your seat selections again to see if even better seats have become vacant and keep checking until you get the absolute best seat you can.

I am glad to see you are leaving BNE early so that you can maximise your F lounge time in SYD. Make sure you get your express pass when checking in so that you can go quickly through immigration when you get to SYD.

Happy travelling. :)

Thanks all!
T-80 came up this morning so I had a look and on the domestic sector it got me a front row aisle which wasnt there yesterday..

The international ones didnt change at all.

Oh yes I do know the SYD lounge it is very nice.

The point about the express pass is well made - it is amazing how often they dont give me one, and more often than not I forget to ask.

That's a quick turnaround at BKK! So make the most (or relax as best as you can) of the lounge and time spent when not in the air.

Yeah its an uncomfartably quick turn around - and whats worse - I'm actually going 5 hours drive out of BKK.

I am off to Japan on the 19th so no time to hang around unfortunately.
