LOL. Maybe they are ubiquitous and also Chinese?
I wouldn't worry about your dignity :)

They are definitely of Japanese origin. However the waving cat (Maneki-neko) itself is a cat to collect fortune rather than just waving hands, all the Chinese/HKers adopted it as their own.

And I understand it depends on whether it is the left or right paw doing the waving.

Loved reading this TR. Showcases why I like flying VA so much (and sometimes go out of the way to fly VA).

I guess growing up in Hong Kong meant that I never noticed these things (ie. the smell) you've mentioned but always nice to read from another perspective.

OMG, no JohnM with 1A boarding pass for this TR. He does not know how he is missing a great TR. :p

Wonderful TR @clipped_wings great humour in the face of a trying husband (straw up nose was something left behind in school). Thanks very much for the detail, exactly what is needed in a trip report.
Out of interest, who do you most identify with: The Goodies, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Seinfeld, The Goons, other.

Wow, so much calibre in those references! I love them all. Yours is such an excellent question that it probably deserves some serious (or comical) thought.

I shall return with an answer. Unless I can't find you. Or if I forget.
