flew Thai but would like miles credited to a different frequent flyer program now

I flew Thai Airways from BKK to SYD a few weeks ago but it may be that I didn't have any frequent flyer number linked for my flight. I don't particularly want the miles to be credited to my empty Thai Airways frequent flyer account as they will just wind up orphaned.

My question is whether I am able to have miles credited after the fact to another Star Alliance airline?

To be honest, I'm not sure which one I'd go for since I don't currently have miles with any of them but am looking at www.wheretocredit.com - Thai Airways Y class - to see if it helps me decide. If I am able to get credit on another airline after the flight, I'm looking at Singapore Airlines, Air Canada or Avianca.

G’day @aleaf,

A couple of thoughts:
- who are you more likely to fly Star Alliance with in the future? That should be where you send the points and status miles.
- one single SYD-BKK flight isn’t really going to give you anything useful by itself.
- when you say Y class are you saying it was generically ‘in economy’, or the fare was genuinely booked in full-fare economy Y class. I ask as some airlines and IIRC, Thai specifically, do print a large Y on the boarding pass, but the fare could actually be in any of the ten or so other economy class fare buckets.
- it would also be worth checking that if you do sign up to a new Star Alliance program, such as SQ, do they even allow retrospective crediting of flights before you joined their program. Some may, some may not.
