Members,
I have had to commute recently between Brisbane and Melbourne, and I coudnt help to notice the Flexi fare for this sector has increased to $409, some other volume routes seem to have increased as well. While others have remained the same. I suspect it's a volume of demand senerio, but the increased fares seemed to align when the saver lite fares were removed.

I often upgrade with points when the Flexi fare is manageable, the premium for upgrade via points from a saver-fare is simply too points hungry. I have forgotten if QF base fare is of the same % calculation of points or slightly less? For points upgrade ( domestic)

My mentioning to the above is not a criticism of VA as I am extremely happy with the airline offering of hard and soft product to me, it's simply an awareness.

yep happened on syd-mel about a month ago to, increased $16 - i think it may have been in response also to QF raising their's as i still see VA around $20-$30 cheaper than QF for a mixed saver-flexi return

The only value they really offer is Fly Ahead and SCs

but you get Fly Ahead and SC'S with saver fares too at the high-end status levels (which you can reach and maintain a lot cheaper buying saver flights esp. sales, promos rather than flexis)

You get more points but no additional SC. I've had mixed results with getting Fly Ahead if I don't have a flexi and I'm WP.
