PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

QF12: F9 A9 J9 C9 D9 I0 W9 R9 T5 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 X9 E0

Possibilities both ways, but QF12 looks the more open at the moment.

I've settled on a booking for Gallipoli next next.
Couldn't get Business out of Sydney around 20-22 April.

Decided on:

Sydney to Singapore - Jetstar ( economy or business - will decide and book later )
Singapore - Dubai ( Business on points )
Dubai - Amman ( Business on points )
Amman - Istanbul ( Business on points )
Istanbul - London ( Business on points )
London - Amman ( Business on points )
Amman - Cairo ( Business on points )
Cairo - Dubai ( Business on points )
Dubai - Singapore ( Business on points )
Singapore - Sydney ( deferred, as above, as no likely pressure of seating availability )

Total points = 522,000 ( two pax )
Taxes = $SIN4,132.

Does the above seem 'worth the effort' ?
For an International 'novice' such as myself, I think so ( hope so ! )

Biggest trip I've ever been on, or likely to travel ( short of a big lotto win ... )

That is not a bad itinerary. I presume all those points are from QF? If spending >500k in QF points and around $4k in fees, have you looked at OneWorld RTW tickets in J?

Do you really need to go to those places other than Istanbul? if not, have you looked at MH travelling SIN>KUL>IST return in J for SGD3100. Still cheaper than SGD4100 and not needing for 500K points.

TK also fly KUL-IST but I haven't checked the prices.

I asked the premium desk to ask if I could have a J seat released on the final 767 flight ADL-MEL. Declined! :(

So I have booked a Y seat (flexi saver! yikes!) and put in an upgrade request.

I was kind of committed to this flight as there was one J (award) seat and I booked my mother in it. I hope she sends me back some champers.

Sorry, just to clarify, my post refers to 1 pax.

Would some nice soul tell me how to get these availabilities in KVS? I know how to search for awards availability, but not the general availability like the example above.

How do you get the availability? I have KVS and I can search for award availability, but for the life of me I cannot find how to get availability across all fare buckets :-(

I use Expert Flyer paid subscription.

Right! Bummer! I am becoming a bit disillusioned with KVS. Don't get me wrong; it is a great tool. It's just having to run it under a virtual machine in Mac, and the non-intuitive interface, and not being able to get a list of availability in all fare buckets, etc, gets to you after a while... If I don't find a way to do this is KVS, I'll just bite the bullet and buy EF, and will not renew my KVS subscription when it expires.

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Could someone check the loadings of QF149 SYD to AKL on the 30th December and QF146 AKL to SYD on the 5th? suspecting these will be pretty full flights.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I have come to realise the two separate tools (native KVS and the Mobile Companion) have different strengths and weaknesses.
