PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Thank you very much JessicaTam! Hopefully I can get a seat with a spare adjacent - cause all I can get was 16K which is next to someone already!

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Hello good people of AFF,

Could I trouble someone to grab me the loadings on QF17 SYD-LAX on 14/05/15 again?

p.s. I normally wouldn't be so worried but it's my 10 year wedding anniversary and REALLY hoping to get my points upgrade from PE to J.

/me crossing fingers, toes, arms, eyes and everything else in desperate hope of winning the dreaded 'Lottery' !

Cheers!

Yep.

Just called the WP line and gave them a gentle begging for consideration, they said there are still 5 fares for sale and by the looks of the high prices they expect them to sell.

I asked about the 'bid for upgrades' thing and he said that it's a targeted system and couldn't say whether I would get an email or not.

:(

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Thoughts on this please...

For an extra $164 I can upgrade to a QF fare that allows point upgrade requests. Travelling SYD to DXB on 14/8 on QF1, QF8021 DXB to MAN (I know I can't upgrade this leg), QF8020 MAN to DXB 20/8, QF2 DXB to SYD 21/8. Looking to upgrade form Y to J or Y+. Im QF Gold if it helps.

Is your itinerary ticketed yet? If yes the 164$ is only the fare difference and on top of that you will need to pay the change fee (200 to 400$ on a Sale fare).

August is a bit far away for upgrade predictions, but here you go: QF1 F7 A4 J9 C9 D0 I0 W9 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 G0 E0
and QF2 F6 A3 J9 C4 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V6 S9 N6 Q3 O1 G0 E0

Thanks...no not ticketed yet but the difference in fares would come from my pocket and not the companies. Does only flying half the route of qf1 and qf2 effect upgrade chances? Am I reading the loading a correctly if I say that upgrade chances on qf1 are greater than on qf2?

thanks

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Just looking for some advice - I'm considering requesting an upgrade for 3 pax from Y to J and have signed up for the EP free trial. I'm given the numbers below. Those of you much more educated than me can you tell me what my odds might be?

the flight is just under 48hrs away.

It is generally considered that "I" availability is a good sign.

QF95 MEL-LAX 22/5 - Looking good?

So I'm flying QF95 MEL-LAX on the 22/5 - now less than T-7 days. Loadings appear to be light:

J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 R9 T9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 X9 E9

What do you experts say - am I right in thinking my odds are fairly good? I'm setting my expectations low - I hate being disappointed! Just have to hope there are not 20 WPs in the queue ahead of me!

Can anyone reconciled the seatmaps in J and PE with the loadings for QF9 MEL-LHR on 19/5

Loads are:
F8 A5 J9 C9 D9 I0 W9 R6 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q4 G0 E0

Seatmaps show only 2 seats in J and none in PE.

This is the flight I am desperately hoping for last minute P availability after my FASA screwup ( I have a normal backup classic in PE/Z, but won't load a seat map )

I'm seeing 14 empty seats in J and 4 in Y+ according to EF. Might be plausible with the J9 but no idea what's with the W9 unless they expect to oversell Y+ by that much.

Interesting. All I see is 22E and 22F free. My QFF is loaded in EF. First looks right with only 5 seats allocated

I see 20E free on top of 22E and 22F. Blocks indicate that you can't choose those seats but they're unoccupied.

Seat maps aren't a good guide for how full a flight will be, particularly a week out. Many may not have allocated a seat yet, and blocked seats will skew that.

In the end after much debating, I didn't request the upgrade. Pax 3 (child) seemed slightly off colour and we decided it was best to see whether he is going to be ok to fly. I'm sure he'll be fine but didn't know if we'd lose the points if we then had to reschedule flights as Mr Natalie needs to return to Sydney regardless so we'd be splitting our booking and all that fun/messy stuff!

Re: update on QF93 on 12 sept

COuld someone please tell mw how many seats are vacant on QF 1 Syd to DBX on 20 May - I find it very hard to understand the fare buckets, so just how many seats would be really helpful. thanks
