PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Thanks Kermatu. Last week when I was looking at the EF map there were lots of free seats in J. Yesterday most of them were marked as blocked. Hopefully we will be lucky as it will be a great way to finish off our short holiday! Just noticed you are also Canberran! Cheers

My prediction¹ is you will be upgraded.

Such seat blocking a coulpe of days before a flight combined with I9 IME indicates a very undersold cabin. The seat blocking in these situations is generally due to load balancing.

You are correct! Just got a text confirming upgrade. T-30ish. Very happy. I do recall a sage on this page saying book the cabin you would be happy flying. We would have been moderately happy in PE.
Cheers

I would welcome feedback as to whether I am likely to get an upgrade and when I might hear about it.

QF7 SYD-DFW 29 Mar 17 return QF8 DFW-SYD 13 Apr 17

QC member, QFF Bronze, zero status credits, booked PE T class, requested upgrade in May 16.

TIA

On QF7 it is touch and go. You may miss out although it looks like they will be keen to move PAX out of PE so you might get lucky.
Especially after they process requests from the pax in J to upgrade to F.

On QF8 your chances look much better but it's almost a month away!

Can someone please post the loadings for VA957 and VA965 SYD-BNE on Sunday 26 March 2017? I am in economy on VA957 and booked business class award for wife and daughter on VA965.

Thanks Happy Trails.

Numbers look identical yet only offering business reward on later flight. And economy availability down to 'N' class yet cheapest airfare is $280?

Often fares in certain fare buckets at less than 7 days can be much high than fares for the same fare bucket 2 months out.

These particular fares have increased over $100 in a few days. Plans were not quite 100% complete so held off booking.

By the way not much better airfares for the return BNE-SYD the Friday after.

Both Qantas and VA are playing rough for airfares up to a month out and then when you get on the flight it is nowhere near full.

Actually, I was incorrect.

VA sell N fares on this route for $261.10+++ ; most fares on this route require 1 day advance

11 J seats allocated according to the EF seatmap, so an encouraging sign, even if a bit early to tell.

I know this is a few days ago but there was 1 person in business on VA957 this afternoon and there were 6 people in business on VA965 including my wife.

Earlier in the week I could only get award in VA965. Makes no sense to me.

Can someone please check the J loadings for PER -> MEL QF 648 on April 6 and MEL -> LAX QF93 on April 7? Have requested a points upgrade from PE to J, hoping that comes through.

Many thanks!
