PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Hi all,

Can anyone give me a sense of points upgrade likelihood from economy (S) to business?

Flight is QF11 SYD-JFK on Friday 22 June.

Thanks.

What status are you? The above loading doesn't look that promising to me over a week out, but the story may be complicated by the two legs. Off the top of my head I'm not sure the policy on whether you could be upgraded for one leg only.

And the gods had been kind. An NB is upgraded to J. :)
Having another look, Y0 indicates they are not selling ecomonmy fares on this flight.

Also the seat map shows a third (12/36) unallocated business class seats. While unallocated seating is not a precise determiner, I suspect with J2 they were planning to allocate at least ten of those seats to economy PAX, preferably to those with points upgrade requests.

So while some deity may be involved, in retrospect the upgrade is not that surprising.

:D

I sadly no longer have EF but have a flight coming up soon and wonder what the loads are looking like, I'm travelling in economy (S) and aiming to upgrade to business. I've had a look on Seat Alerts as that's still free-ish and there's still unallocated 2F, 18J, 9PY. I'm WP.

The flight is QF1 SIN-LHR* on Wednesday 20 June.

*Note not Sydney, I'm connecting from QF37.

I realise a little far out, but I'm curious from economy to business upgrade using points - I am silver member. Qantas is asking 100k points for an updrade
When is to best request for points (classic reward) upgrade? Sooner the better or closer to the date?

My understanding is the sooner the better. Ie its a fist in, first out queue for those of the same status and fare bucket.

That was documented briefly around late 2004 but appeared to have been replaced by status>fare (bucket)>time (as a QFF member) soon after.

These day it seems to be PCV (or a close relative).

Hi all

Can I please get loads for QF24 from BKK to SYD on Friday June 22? I am SG and 2 of us on the booking hoping for upgrade from saver Y to J....
Never had an upgrade on QF24 as always seem to be full (QF23 on the way to BKK last week was packed too).

Many thanks

I’m going to says looks ok but 2 could be a stretch

Thank you very much. Agree 2 upgrades will be a stretch particularly if there are a few WPs requesting upgrades too. Will post the outcome on Friday :-)
