PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

I chose the QF172 and have put in for an upgrade but not hopeful

Can some one please check the latest loading?
QF7 - SYD to DFW - 7th July
What are my chances? So far nothing from qantas yet. I went on to qantas website and try to check if business seats is available (tried to do a dummy booking) it shows 5 and fewer seats available under business saver and flex. Does this mean they still have seats available?
I have requested J upgrade.I am silver member (dropped from gold last year:))
Thank you in advance

Still 6 J seats, but I don't think the WP requests will have been processed yet.

Thank you. When do normally WP requests get filled in? Are you able to see how many upgrade request has been mode? I have done this request first time :)

My understanding is WP (and other) requests only start a maximum 48 hours before a flight.
Only a Qantas insider would be able to see how many requests have been made, as far as I'm aware.

Whilst the upgrade request info is sometimes posted, that is insider information.

The upgrade timings are hidden away in the QF status benefits by tier. P1 is processed from up to 7 days prior to departure, and WP is up to 2 days before - so P1 requests may have already been actioned, but WP won't be done until tomorrow at the earliest.

edit: beaten to it - mostly, but P1 is up to 7 days out.

Thank you... It seems i will have 2 sleepless nights before i know.. as you said its only 6 seats available, considering my status its unlikely that my upgrade request will go through?

I'd say unlikely but you never know. There have been some recent examples where we've all said "don't hold your breath" but then the person has been successful. If you are travelling solo and assuming some current J pax get upgrades to F, there may be a bit of a chance. Good luck, and let us know.

so this is an odd one. party of 3 who were originally flying scoot syd-sing, but due to aircraft maintenance, they have put us on sia flights SQ8122 and SQ8121. our priority boarding and seating on the scoot flight has been revoked and refunded due to this being chartered flight, so despite the surprise of flying sia we're losing those paid perks.

having never been in this situation, what are the chances of upgrades for chartered flights like these? will i be able to bid for an upgrade?

I'd say unlikely since the replacement plane is 1/3 fewer seats, so they've cut sales and reportedly issued some refunds to get passenger numbers right.

Unfortunately while superficially it sounds good, because of the cutbacks in this replacement service there are some unappealing elements, and it may be inferior to what you could get on Scoot.

ah, i see. that's a real pity. thanks for the info

i'm discovering that it's a mixed bag- some things are better, others are worse.
