PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

I doubt that the system is that sophisticated that the connecting time comes into play. If you’re successful they should notify you 24-48 hours prior to your departure time.

Just wanted members advice in regards best chance of upgrade to the USA before I book. PE to J.

Departing 6 May 2020
QF85 - Brisbane to Chicago
QF7 - Sydney to Dallas

Not sure what we can say this far out. Both flights are J9, W9, Y9 and QF7 is F9. I would think load factors would be a guide, and perhaps someone will have a view of QF85 in that regard. There does seem to be a lot of disappointment recorded on this and related threads for people seeking ugrades on QF7.

The flight I'm asking about is Finnair - AY0005 which flies direct from HEL (12:40) to JFK (14:50).

When I checked earlier in the year, I could find many business class seats but only economy is available for the later part of the year (Nov-Dec 2020). Is business no long available for this flight? Looking to fly in 2020 around this time.

This is the loading for 4/11/20

AY 5HEL 12:40p → JFK 2:50p
J9 C9 D9 I9 UC Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 SC NC QC OC Z9 G9 X4 EL

Beyond this date the system responds “airlines have not released information for this date”. Possible the service is being discontinued or AY for some reason AY is not scheduling flights 12 months out

Hi

I am travelling from Sydney - Jakarta on 13 Dec 2019

Purchased economy class H ticket .

Just wondering what my changes to get business class upgrade through points.

Thank you

It’s like a quiz. If I guess you are travelling on QF then the loading look like this

QF 41SYD 1:50p → CGK 5:30p
J5 C5 D5 I4 U2 Y9 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0

Your chances depending on status look reasonable given their are two classic award seats available

Does that mean business class is available for 04/11/2020? I checked on both Qantas and BA and the only flight available is economy. Have also checked the days within a week but still only economy.

Have you tried the AY website? Are you looking for paid flights or award flights? Must admit I didn’t hit book now but seems bookable

I'm looking for Qantas award flights actually. Planning to do a round the world trip for 318k points.
