PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Thanks MooTime.

Question for Qantas folks here - can you request an awards seat release (as a Platinum) for flights with a Qantas flight number that are operated by Emirates?

Well folks, I'll be leaving Australia in February. As you can imagine, I'm keen to fly back home (North America) in style (e.g. business class). Checking the Qantas website, however, there does not appear to be any business classic awards heading back to all the usual suspects (SFO, LAX, DFW, JFK, YVR) . At the same time my Platinum membership will lapse at the end of the month.

Hence, I'm looking to open up an award seat in business on one of the following QF flights (if available) as a Platinum and would greatly appreciate it if I could get the relevant loadings so I can call up QF and press my luck:

Either Friday February 21 or Saturday February 22nd:
  • QF 3 - SYD > JFK
  • QF 7 - SYD > DFW
  • QF 21 - MEL > DFW
  • QF 11 - SYD > LAX
  • QF 15 - BNE > LAX
  • QF 93 - MEL > LAX
Other Flights:
  • Friday Feb 21 QF 103 - SYD > HNL
  • Saturday Feb 22: QF 75 - SYD > YVR

Thank you for your assistance here, greatly appreciated. I tried the options which had positive I availability which I preferred with the agent and none of them seemed to work. Fortunately, they were able to release a seat on QF15 (BNE > LAX). I know it's not ideal given it's an A330, but I'll take the W.

I think this goes back to the whole point that others have mentioned earlier, I availability is a necessary but not sufficient condition for the computer to release seats.

Thanks again!

Apologies for bothering again, but just thought I'd ask if I could get loadings for the following flights:

  • QF 27 between Thursday January 9 and Sunday January 12
  • QF 27 on Friday May 23
If I could get a complete loading, it would be appreciated as I'm looking to get any seats released as a Platinum.

Are you seriously asking for a flight in May 2025?

I think he's asking for the purposes of getting classic rewards released as a WP rather than upgrade probability.
Correct. My Platinum status will cease on December 1 so I may as well complete my award bookings whilst the going is good. As an aside, I'm guessing it's fine for me to book award travel for family members even if I'm not travelling with them.
