VM94, it may be worth a PM to a Mod (eg. QF WP, Jessica Tam) to ask that your introduction thread be merged into this.

Re: Hi. We are a semi-retired couple seeking suggestions

Thank you TheRealTMA this is the sort of information that I was hoping to find here on this site. Real people who have done it and can tell of their experiences first hand. In the end it will come down to what is on offer when it comes time to book but I needed to know whether to rule any option out straight away. I checked the reward flights from OOL to Melbourne (which go via Sydney) and it will make for a long day as we would probably leave OOL at lunchtime and not fly out of Melbourne until nearly midnight.
If you can get them, EK F is (IMHO) better than QF F with consistently better service while QF F service is very variable. Plus EK does BNE DXB MAN in one stop with CD in J and F at each end (QF also offer CD). A 380 direct out of BNE is hard to turn down.

And if you have it flown the 380 in J, I suggest you'd be quite happy with EK J out if BNE if F is not available.

Though online with QFF 2 F awards out of BNE were only on a couple of days.Much better availability out of MEL.
Best to call and see if more availability that way.

Re: Hi. We are a semi-retired couple seeking suggestions

Thanks everyone. Whilst we have flown in J class before our last international trip was in 2008 (excluding Norfolk Island which wasn't flown with Q). I'm sure either J or F will make it a special trip for us and now that I am armed with more information I will phone around the date when the awards are released and keep checking until I can (hopefully) get something that is suitable. EK F out of Brisbane will now be my holy grail but if I don't reach it then I'm sure I won't be the only one who has failed and as you have all pointed out there are other possibilities that would be equally (well almost) suitable.

Whilst that is probably good advice JohnM, I have absolutely no idea on how to PM anyone. Newby (I can't even do Facebook), sorry.

Marki I can't help you at all and I doubt anyone will see your request where you have placed it. You would be best to start a new thread.

When are you looking to travel?

Re: Hi. We are a semi-retired couple seeking suggestions

I'm starting my arrangements with the flights and am looking at the end of April 2016.

I've PM'd QF WP.

To send a PM, look at the red banner across the top. Second from left is a 'Private Messages' link.

Thanks for the PM, JohnM - apologies for the delay, I've been offline for a couple of days due to work commitments. I have successfully merged the posts from the Introductions thread to here, so hopefully this should now hold all the information relevant to the flight suggestions
