Did you call the Platinum line .... I did some upgrades yesterday....and understand they're 8 to 8 seven days a week.

Damn you VA. All this candy makes me want to keep Platinum.

I'm wondering if this "candy" is going to become a regular enticement.

So far, none of it has suited me, but if it keeps up, I have to hit the jackpot eventually!

re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2012

One problem is they can only be done from 'Flexi' fares, which are not really 'flexible' and cost more.

Sound like a sweet deal with an Adl-Ltn trip coming up in two weeks does anyone know if Lounge access in Melbourne is permited or extra baggage allowance. The T&Cs don't mention anything on the subject.

re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2012

What seats in business domestic do you prefer?
I think 1A or 2A would be good ones.
2A you could recline without having to disturb anyone.

Does anyone know whether the leg room in 2A is the same as 1A?

Cheers

As with all airlines, the wall in row 1 makes it only slightly better than an economy seat.

2C for this frequent flyer!

Good! That makes the chances of row 1 seats all the better for those of us who like having nobody in front reclining their seat. ;)

re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2012

Well im just wrapped.. 300 bucks and 3700 points for my first Virgin Business class experience includes 1.5 Hours in Melb lounge.
Adl-Mel-Lst. all signed and sealed. Thanks Rudi at velocity.
Costs more for my KGI-ADL on Qantas Link in Economy.
Now if only Virgin and Skywest could put a Lounge into KGI and a few more aircraft then...

do you prefer aisles to window seats?

re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2012

Just made use of this great offer as well. Flying MEL-SYD-PER and 2 days later back home PER-MEL. Earns ca. 7400 points as a Velocity Gold, plus the 80 SCs, and upgrade costs only 9900 points return, so bottomline 2500 points out of pocket (as work pays for the Economy fares).

Now I get to ride the A330 again on SYD-PER, but this time in C. Any seats to avoid, or other comments? I prefer window seats btw. Thanks!

re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2012

Just upgraded my OOL-MEL flight on 19th May for 7400 points. Now all I need is for the new lounge to be open by then for breakfast.

re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2012

How does one ensure an upgrade is available before committing to a flexi fare? Would an available business award seat indicate that an upgrade from flexi would be successful?

re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2012

I called velocity as they only allow a certain number of seats for upgrades.First call was slightly confusing but rang back later when I had the flight I wanted and was told how many seats left for upgrade.

I just rang them and asked, explained that i didn't want the flexi for that flight if upgrades weren't available. They seemed pretty ok with that. They will tell you the current status but won't guarantee the spots. so book immediately after the 1st call. I have now done 4 flights each time spent less than a few minutes on the phone. im quite happy that i get to check out Adelaide,Melbourne, Sydney and Perth Lounges in the next two weeks. Will be a bit of a change from the Qantas lounge at KGI and PER that i'm used to.

re: Flight upgrades for half the Velocity Points [now 'til Dec '12] - March & April 2012

Flying SYD-PER-SYD this coming Monday. Cost difference between the Saver and Flexi fares were $20 for the outbound ($379 vs $399) and $104 for the return ($199 vs $303), so it made sense to get a Flexi if only for the extras and additional SCs. Called up and managed to upgrade the return leg for 4950 points. I've heard the PER lounge isn't too crash hot but nonetheless I'm proper excited for my first ever flight in J.
