FLL customs clearence /connection times etc

I will be arriving from CUN (Cancun) onSpirit Airlines and plan to connect to a USA domestic flight on 20/12/12 arriving at 6.40pm

How much time should I allow given Xmas season etc

Is 2 hours sufficient to clear customs and check into a domestic flight.

Spirit offer a 8.11pm flight (their last flight to NYC)?

I would have thought it would be cutting it too fine, but according to this article from Spirit (see page 2), the minimum connection time for "International to domestic" transfers in FLL is 1 hour. This is assuming you do not have an interline transfer.
